Reputation Points

With the recent revelation that reputation points are removed from someone's account when the thread they originated from is deleted, a rather good point was brought up: why not delete the whoreage going on in this thread? If the mods want a return to the intended use of rep, then do away with the primary symptom of its failure.

I wouldn't normally post something like this, but I remember some discussion a while back lamenting the fact that a high reputation means ****-all. Even SHMENGIE has high rep points despite continued asshattery, a severe lack of anything resembling charm or help, and a post-count of 41.

If the mods don't care, then disregard this thread.

hey pretzell, you're a cool guy in my book(as far as I can tell over the internut) and I dont take this the bad way. This topic has been discussed though more than once. Thing is the rep system wasn't being used the way it should have been. It was being used for those e-forum popular people and also for people that had some vendetta against someone else or that just didn't agree with a post. I saw this over and over and one day I just felt like seeing how much rep I could actually get. Thing is some people actually think we at the rep thread take it seriously or something. Thing is that it's just one of the few threads on this forum that isn't a flame fest. It's just us having fun. Plus you guys all stoped by there so (potkettle . I agree on the rep thing. But this has been discussed before(do a search) and the current system doesn't work. A better system would be more than welcome. Just that I've seen tons of people helping others back in the day and they get no love. So I said **** it.

One thing though, I bet you we're the most reputable people on the net not to mention hugemongous e-penI

but most of the people only leave rep outside of that thread for a reason. only that thread, with the exception of people who occasionally like to neg someone everytime they dont agree, consists of completely worthless and stupid posts, as well as pointless rep giving.

if someone outside that never posted in the rep system has max rep boxes is because one of the people from the thread got them directly or indirectly. Before the rep system the person with most rep was Kyle if I remember correctly and he only had lke 30 points or something like that. Yeah, the system was being used very wisely The mod system isn't a bad idea as long as we can use the option to report the post(not report bad post but just report post) to state whether the post deserves rep or not cause the mods cant be everywhere all the time. That might work.

i dont agree with the mod rep system since i alot of people dont get along with the mods for whatever reason they would be able to neg rep the s*** out of someone for the hell of it. plus i know alot of areas mods dont look at so if someone helps someone out a great deal they would get no rep for it. then a thread would probally be started to get a mods attention. so we end up with a bunch of useless threads. i dont think their is any good rep point solution. so just let us have our little corner of the site and we wont bother anyone.........

well thats where the mods should use there discretion and not be biased scince in fact they are mods
