Report Bad Post procedure

I was just curious what happens after a bad post is reported. Is the reporter ever made aware of the result, or is it just assummed that the mods have taken care of the warning/violation/infraction/banning?

Thank you in advance.

Depending on what forum the post is reported in, those responsible for moderating said forum will be notiified by email. Who ever looks at/reviews the suspect post determines if it is outside of forum rules and either deletes or edits said post. Most of the time a simple edit can fix the problem with a courtesy notice to the poster not to persist with the behavior. If the poster does not chnage their pattern then infractions can be issued up to and including banning of said member.

Hope this helps.

Yup, the report bad post icon sends emails out to the moderators of that forum. Depending on the mod who takes care of it, the person who reported the post may or may not be contacted....some mods do go and send a PM or something to the reporter, others don't. We don't have a set policy on that -- except of course for taking action (if warranted) when a post does get reported.

The report bad post feature is a great thing but is IMO sorely under-used by members here. Because of the sheer size of this forum, it is impossible for the staff to monitor every single post. So if you see a post that you feel is against the forum rules, click that icon!
