Replacing stock speakers on a P5....

i might be buying a P5 in the next couple of months and had a couple of questions about the stereo...i've heard the stock system and it's ok, but i'd like something louder if i end up getting this car...now i'm not a stereo expert and was wondering if you guys could tell me if it'd be possible to attach an amp to the stock deck and run some higher end speakers off that in replacement of the stock ones...the reason i want to keep my stock deck is for security...i hate having aftermarket decks that draw attention to the car and rather keep a "low-key" setup using the stock deck, but having the speakers and amp provide the "kick"...is this possible???

thanks in advance

You sure as hell can. I believe your front speakers will be 5x7/6x8s and the rears are 6 1/2s. Just get an amp with speaker level inputs and you can cut the speaker wires behind the radio, extend the radio side of those wires to plug into the amp and run the new amplified wires back to the radio and connect them to the old speaker wires. A great little amp for this is Alpines MRP-F320 5 channel and it only costs $250 retail. It gives you 30x4 for the door speakers and 120x1 for a sub woofer. A ported JL 10W0 is always a nice package with this amp. If you need any more info let me know I'm an installer for Tweeter so I know a few things salesmen simply won't tell you.

cool, thanks for the great response...if i end up getting the P5 i'll be knocking on your door again for some more info... :D

thanks again
