Replacing Lower Oil Pan

For those of you who are talking about oil starvation, how hard do you have to drive your car for that to happen? I am going up to the mountains next weekend for the twisties and would hate to put my car in jeopardy.

Search away. It's happened on many many occasions. Hell my oil light would come on in my old LX just driving to work if I wasnt careful.

Well after doing a good look around the forums it makes me not want to drive my car! Too many horror stories to handle haha. I think I will keep it away a bit away from redline and make sure the oil is always at full. I bought this car for the twisties, and while a good amount of people have had problems, it looks like the majority hasn't. What's life without some risks? (rolleyes)

My oil pan is rusted and needs replacing ... just wondering ... was it difficult at all to manuver the oil pan past the exhaust J pipe? Also, did you go with an aftermarket pan, or did you replace it with an OEM?

To answer your questions, I did replace the oil pan with OEM purchased from AutoZone. The exhaust only was in the way of a couple bolts that I was able to get at with an open end wrench. It was a lot easier than I expected.

Autozone really chose a sneaky marketing ploy by selling a brand called "OEM." Wonder how many people have purchased something by "OEM" thinking it was OEM.
