Replaced my totaled 2003 Proteg5 with...

I haven't been able to drive it since I bought the car last Wednesday because I'm waiting for my insurance's new period to start on Friday. In the meantime, I'm rockin' my mom's '92 Accord. =P

For those who asked, I paid about $250 under (yes, under) invoice. The only other fees that were tacked on were license and CA sales tax. I realized after I drove the car home that it had wheel locks and mud flaps.

Welcome aboard.

A RSX-S is about 22-23k before TTL. I'm guessing the total financed was like 25-26k. RSX's are fun. First mod, ITR OEM rear sway bar! Can't go wrong for $89 with bushings.

I'm not a fan of the 2006 SI, but its certainly a neat car...better than a protege...

As far as performance, they looks are gay..my .02 cents

I didn't finance the car and I got it for considerably less than $25K. =)

Re: 2006 Civic Si - I seriously considered this car until I realized it was nearly impossible to find at MSRP in SoCal. I realize it is probably a better performing car (newer chassis, LSD), but IMO it's not worth more than MSRP.

i don't know brian...low 13s with bolt-ons is pretty serious. and honestly, i love the sound of the RSX Type-S with CAI and race header. i installed the CAI on my friend's RSX-S and he already had a catless header...sounded sooooooooo sweet. the chassis is pretty refined, too.

Not bad at all...I believe Ghost has one too...with a S/C...

Anyway, too bad you couldn't wait for an MS3, that would have been neat. Speaking of neat, my parents saw/rode in my MSP for the first time this weekend, and they liked it surprisingly, they said it was "neat".

A 2006 RSX Type-S!

I wish I could have stayed in the Mazda family, but after test driving the RSX and Mazda3, I felt the 3 was uninspiring (not to mention service issues). The forum members have helped me a lot in my two years of owning the P5, so thanks!

Edit: Added another picture.

I'm personally not a fan of that car, but it looks nice. It's always fun getting a NEW car.

Now all you need is one of these:

average white boy car.
I'm not sure how the direct comparision...which i guess is supposed to be a Protege5...hits any of those points either.

Most refined I-4 ever made.
Chassis responds to upgrades well.
Great Fit and Finish
Slick 6 spd k series tranny.
Can make mid 200whp NA without too much work (P5 needs a turbo (boom07) )
Styling always debatable
Not too worried about a car's ethnicity.

Do you have something more substancial aside from a personal bias?

If you want to throw out stereotypes, then in my area, everyone in SoCal driving an RSX is an AZN with close cropped/spiky hair in the "gangsta" lean driving position. Sadly, it is fairly close to the truth. Sometimes, I feel a bit embarrassed to be an Asian with short hair driving a Japanese car. But hell, I know I'm one of the few that can enjoy the car for more than its straight line performance.
