Replace 2008 CX-9 Headlight projectors or Swap for 2010-2012 units?

My halogen projectors are useless. The bowls are toast - nearly no reflection left. I'm in desperate need of new headlight housings, but the average of $600 or more for the '07-'09 assemblies is insane. This seems to be common enough that Mazda should offer some pretty steep discounts on replacement assemblies. Wishful thinking, I know.

I can get a pair of new assemblies for a '10-'12 for under $300, but I can't find a straight answer if they'll work. Some say yes, others say no.

Has ANYONE done the swap?

I thought about swapping the projectors, but I really don't have the time to mess with it.

Considering most of my driving is in the dark, I REALLY need to do something with these headlights, ASAP.

Thanks

Any chance you have access to a local junkyards or "pick-and-pull"? Sometimes you can get used replacements for minimal cost if you remove them yourself.

Possibly, but hate putting out money, go through the work of installing them, only to find out the bowls aren’t very good. I’d rather buy new headlights, then I know they’ll work well.

Apparently they will physically fit, but the wiring harness and bulb size may be different.

You could probably buy the 2010 units and if they aren't plug and play, splice some wires.
