I see a few of you guys have mentioned this or have done it. What is the process of doing it or did you have someone do it for you? Im thinking about doing it as well after reading a few posts about it. It sounds like you get a little performance boots from it correct?

You get a little less restriction, meaning more HP... The noise from your exhaust will be a little different since all the resonation from your engine will not be gone. You simply go to a muffler shop, cut the resonator off and get them to reweld a straight pipe in between. I f I where you I would remove the cat and the resonator at the same time.. that will give you that much more of an increase and it will cost you a few dollars more.

ok guys i have this same thing done to my car....

i have a pre cat to a straight pipe all the way to the muffler....

no 2nd cat or resonator and 2.25 piping ... all for ~$120..

i can tell a performance gain and a lot better throttle response.

i would reccomend it.... unless you wont want more noise

it IS louder... but not too much louder... it sounds very good... and tough... i love going through the parking garages here and listening to it... along with my aem..... i LOVE THIS CAR...

i think im gonna get it dynoed like this then when i get my cams ill have it dynoed again...

if you have any more questions ask me...

Sounds cool, thanks for the info. Where did you get this done?

i just went to a regular muffler shop.... except they have to do the cat removal under the table,,, so on my paper work it says "strut repair"...lol

Removing the resonator doesn't add any horespower to your car...........All it does is make your car very loud..............

actually it didnt make my car very loud... it gave it more of a low growl to it... and i did notice a little gain.... a resonator is basically another muffler.. so how could you not gain any power from it.. it just frees up the exhaust a little more... for better flow...

I'd have to agree with mazdamp3_18 with the sound part of it. I got mine removed a long time ago to try to get my exhaust louder and it barely did anything. My friends and I couldn't even tell the difference. I felt no performance gain at all. I'm not saying taht there isn't one, but I am saying that it is EXTREMELY small. I personaly wouldn't recomend it to anyone who plans to get an exhaust system in the future. But hey, that's just my $.02
