Removing central dash pieces

I am trying to get the passenger airbag light out of my MS3 so I can run my dashhawk wire through there. Being my first *new* not-12 years old car, I am paranoid to break anything. Someone said remove the cigarette lighter pannel, but I don't know how. Has someone removed this and can give me some tips, or has anyone come across this while replacing their headunit??

Yes, I know I put this in the regular 3 section, figured you have the same passenger airbag light and I might get more hits this way. THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Remove the cubby at the back of the console by removing the two screws in the bottom. Next, lift the console plate (the plastic piece around the shifter boot) up to reveal two screws holding the ashtray assembly. I believe there are two more screws above the lighter/airbag light panel.

If you're putting the DH near the ashtray, why not just run the cable between the console plate and the ashtray? It's a fairly small cable isn't it? Just fewer screws to remove.

While you're in there, may as well grind off the shifter bushing sleeves or put in some TWM shifter bushings.

Thanks, I will see if that works for me. Actually, I don't know if there are different versions, but my cable is relatively thick in my opinion

I just blew a ton of money on a used tmic, can't even afford shifter bushings right now. next paycheck ;)

Are you just going to leave the airbag lamp out, or put it back once the wiring's done? As for the bushings, just grind down the sleeves. That's what I did for mine.

I just want the circular part popped out to run the wire for the dashhawk. Anyone with one will tell you that unfortunately there is a plug that comes straight out of the back at least a full inch or two making mounting difficult in certain spots.

The pdf instruction manual from tmw is PERFECT,

I thought I saw a pic of a DH with the cord on the side. Are there two cords? You'll like the way the shifter tightens up. Enjoy. Be aware, the left front shifter platform bolt is a PITA.

There is a side plug, but thats to USB to your computer. The OBD-II that goes to the car comes straight out of the back.
