My wife had the oem remote starter installed yesterday. Works great and a must with the recent cold spell here in NH.

did you have it installed at the dealership? How much did you pay overall?

Just a tad under $500 installed. $215 for the remote start unit and over $250 for the install...

My dealership quoted $800 (parts and labor and taxes) so i said NOPE. I'm still shopping around. I'm wondering if either Best Buy or Circuit City can do the install. I can buy the part for $200

$800 is insane. But if you have the Tech Package make SURE you get the Mazda remote-start otherwise the smart-key system won't play nice with the remote-start setup.

Thanks CXRabbit. Well, here's the deal. I can get the OEM part from here at $240 and a Mazda dealership quoted me for $320 install. I am not considering aftermarket remote starters cuz I'm quite sure they won't play nice with my Smart Key so I'm taking your advice on using the OEM. I have the Tech package.

I don't know if I can still can go lower so... anyone?

Trying going to a good audio shop in your area. I handed them the instructions that came with the Mazda Remote-Start and they were able to get it all installed no-problem. You might even call around and try an audio shop that has a lot of Mazda experience (the audio shop I use does work directly for the dealer I bought from).
