mazda3 5 door
i finished installing my remote start for my 3, it is a mazda part number not an am one. the new remote controls work but when i hit the start button everything turns on but the ignition doesn't fire, then the horn beeps twice and it shuts down. the only thing i can find in the instructions is it says the hood is up if the horn beeps twice. i checked the hood switch like 20 times and the wires and even tried it up thinking it was reversed or something. still got the same results... so if anyone has knowledge of what the hell i did, or am not doing that would be great... it is a stick, it was in neutral with the ebrake on.....???

Put a meter on the hood pin wire and see if it is grounding out?
if it is, then that is your cause. Typicly a hood pin switch deactivates the alarm when it shows ground to the alarm.

How did you wire in for nuetral safety?

You have to ground the neutral safety wire for the car to start but you should never just do that with a standard as you always want to use the nuetral safety wire from the transmission if present, or using a compustar standard specific RS if it is not.

i didn't touch any thing for the neutral detect, the manual says its for any model mazda3.... no other specifics given... i would imagine it was one of the many wire harness i routed to the module... i went back and started goin over my stuff and i think its a door not the hood. for the door detects all on the passenger side they have you use those stupid wire splice things.... think i may have tapped into the wrong one... and ontop of things the instructions say two different things, black/red wire at either pin 12 or pin 9....

deff the doors, the new remotes aren't locking or unlocking them, just makes the light blink...its to damn dark out to continue (i need a garage!!) hopefully i can finish this up tomorrow... going to have to go over those wires i tapped into, and if that doesn't do it going to have to call mazda monday....

yup still need help

alright so i found i had tapped into 1 incorrect wire (they shouldn't put to green/black wires next to eachother thats just bad engineering) anyways, i found that and rectified the situation and now the door locks and lights all work correctly... but i am still getting the same double beep when i try to start it with the remote. i called 2 local mazda dealerships, one said they don't install remote starters they use radio city/best buy b/c of that exact reason... (bunch of losers) the next dealer i called said they had installed 1 and had the same problem but don't "remember" how it was fixed and i should bring it in. i found the manufacturer of the product itself in the small print on the manual and called them after getting their number from the internet (weren't they surprised) the guy was really helpful and had me try a bunch of stuff then said i think you got a bad dna module... take it into your dealership... i really would like to avoid payin 75$$ an hour to get this fixed as i imagine its something really stupid.. any one have any experience with an oem remote starter????

oh i checked the hood switch with an ohm meter and it works like it should... so its not that.

(bump) cause i am bored at work, and can't stop thinking about how to figure this thing out, goin over the install guide and manual for the thousandth time it seems like... (bump)(bump)

i thought you have a key with a chip on it so it won't start without they key in the ign. . or you bypass that already with a module. . . .i would just recheck wiring all around

yeah its an oem peice that doesn't need a "key in a box" it uses some sort of ribbon cable around the ignition.... and i have checked my wiring tons... there are only 7 wires i tap into and they are all correct, then there are two plugs i disconnect and route through the module and reconnect on the other side... can't really f that up, and then i had to connect a switch that wasn't polarity sensitive, and an led... it really wasn't that bad at all only took 4 hours or so and a good part of that was tryin to figure out how to get parts off of my car that i hadn't taken off yet...

Did you program the transponder bypass module? It needs a grey key to program the module.

How did you wire the door trigger wire?
I recall that theres two trigger wires that you need to diode isolate and its found in the passenger side of the car. This car is a PITA to install an alarm or RS coz the wires are split in half....half of the wires you need are in drivers and passenger side.

Also, try completely disconnecting the hood pin to see if it'll work.

Let me know if this helps,
Jeff
