I am relocating to Shelton, CT for a job. I need help looking for an apt. I look at many places, they're well over 1000 for a 1 BR apt. Can someone please give me some lead. Thanks a lot!

i work in shelton....moved to the area myself a couple years ago.

This place is also around 1000 a month but will probably be a little under depending on which unit you get....its where I lived for my first 6 months in the area, a quick 20 minute commute up route 8:

Not sure where else specifically to send you other than probably the New Haven area which isnt a bad commute along 34.....I also looked at a place when I was moving here right on the sound (waterfront) in milford (not the nicest town but not the worst either). It was 1.1k a month so I imagine normal not close to the water housing there would be a little less.

Where in shelton you gonna be working?

LOL i guess im just bitter since its -34 degrees outside lol

My boy may need a roomate shortly. The house he lives in also has another apartment that will be up for rent shortly. It is in Fairfield. im not sure what the rent is but im guessing its 1200. I can look further into this if your serious. I think the place has two bedrooms, kitchen and all the other fun things.

lol.. I grew up accustomed to that crap because when I wasn't in CT, I was in Ohio, just as cold if not colder..

anywho, pending some background checks, I'll be relocating to the hartford area very soon.

go to www.rep-am.com it is the waterbury area paper. Waterbury isn't that great of a place to live but they had a listing in wolcott, prospect/naugatuck line which are better and the rents were about 750.ish. From what i remember it isn't that bad of a commute, just south on route 8 (thumb)

its probably all the same on route 8 but just for the record I will say that it seemed like 2 days a week there was a big accident in the morning on route 8 between the beacon falls exit and the naugatuck exit. I cant tell you how many accidents there were. gorgeous stretch of road through there but its a little windy and i guess the truckers get a little too excited about testing the handling capabilities on their kenworths. Because of this it SEEMED like there was constantly a huge backup on route 8 if you got on before beacon falls....maybe it was just a bad couple months and it could have seemed like it was happening more often than it actually was (fire dept is right across the street from the mill apartments i mentioned) but i just had to mention it.

I also heard that that same stretch gets really icy in the winter, but i only lived there june-nov so i couldnt tell you for sure.

I live in Waterbury and work in Bridgeport so I drive down Route 8 every day. The traffic is usually ok in the morning (the 30 mile commute takes me about 35 minutes). If you live in Waterbury and work in Shelton you will definetly save money on rent.

There are nice areas of Waterbury just as there are of any town. Check the edges of the town. I live 2.5 miles from route 8 and my neighborhood is just fine. (And I could afford to buy).

my commute is going to be avon to storrs for a while.. it should get interesting.

because eventually I'm buying a place in colchester and living in avon is free for now :)
