Redline CX-5 Hood Struts

My experience has been the same.

I could not compress them myself, but I didn't need to. They compressed once installed.

hopefully I will have a better experience. The redline tuning ones I have on my jeep rubicon work exceptionally well so I hope the cx5 set up works better than yours. have you contacted redline? they have been super responsive to me. you very may well may have a bad strut.
They generally have good reviews. Hopefully yours will be properly sorted out after installation.

My experience over the last 10-15 years has been, a parts swap just re-installs the original problem again. Add to that the time and energy wasted. If a product is new, and immediately has issues, I'll likely request a refund, and move on. I should have returned these.

If I have had the item a few years, but still in warranty, I'm more likely to bin the offending item and start fresh with another option.

Good luck with the install. Please post your impressions after you have them installed.

I got a cheapy pair off Amazon and they were locked up initially. I had to beat on them with a mallet and wooden blocks to get them to release before I installed them. After that though, they were fine and smooth and have remained so for the six years since.
i went with the same...no issues during install...seem to be ok thusfar but i'm only 25k miles in...i'm also careful when opening and shutting the hood...
