HIROSHIMA, Japan Mazda has begun taking orders in Japan for the redesigned Mazda Premacy, which is sold in the U.S. and other overseas markets as the Mazda 5. The U.S. version is scheduled to debut this fall at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show and should begin arriving at dealers in 2011.

Deliveries of the front-wheel-drive Premacy in Japan will begin in July, with the four-wheel-drive variants to follow in August. Prices in the home market, including taxes, will start at $19,400.

The third-generation Premacy made its world debut earlier this year at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show.

In Japan, the newest edition can be ordered with dual power-sliding rear doors and a variety of seating configurations, as well as Mazda's i-stop idling stop-start system.

The home-market Premacy is available with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline direct-injection engine and a five-speed automatic transmission.

looks like they've given it the "smiling idiot" front facia that the rest of the line seems to have. Too bad, Mazda's were great looking cars! guess I'll have to wait for gen 4 to see if I buy another one!

^^^ Let it go. The current gen Mazda 3 has become the #1 selling car in Canada, a car doesn't become #1 if people don't like the looks.

Not to make you guys upset but...

1. Have you seen the new Mazda MPV ?? !!
It's the same as the Mazda 5/Premacy, it smaller
and I thought I was seening the new premacy,
then BAM saw the ass of this, and sure enough
there was the MPV badge on back said in true life
(MPV ha ha ha 5/Premacy you got owned!),
I was like ....

2. Was there not? a thread about this already started months ago?
Can we combine the two threads, (Pssssst that is what happend to my
thread when I started a NEW MAzda 2011 thread ) (fight)

Peace!(rei)

Yes Sarge, we know what the MPV is. :p

Smaller? What?

8/MPV vs. 5/Premacy
Length: 4860mm (191.3in) vs. 4590mm (180.7in) , 270mm (10.6in) difference
Width: 1850mm (72.8in) vs. 1750mm (68.9in), 100mm (3.9in) difference
Height: 1685mm (66.3in) vs. 1620mm (63.8in), 55mm (2.5in) difference

The MPV is a nice van and none of us are stopping you from getting one, but even if the 8 was available here I would still go with the 5. North America only has three players left in the dwindling minivan market although the three are getting consistently good enough sales that they're going to stick around for quite awhile. Perhaps the Mazda 8 might have some degree of success over here but then again the MPV was probably one of the best minivans out there when it was still in the North American market and the sales were low enough that Mazda North America decided to pull the plug on it.

The fact that the 8 exists doesn't upset us, just the fact you would assume that we want the more upscale 8, but the 8 is $8,000 more than the 5, it's got a different target market.

That MPV started in 2006 in Japan. The year they stopped importing the MPV to N. America is the year they made it every enthusiast's dream mini-van (if such a thing exists...(uhm))

There should be a replacement for that MPV just around the corner as well. Probably next year as the 5 is 6 years old in Japan and 2011 will make six years for that MPV.

I love how everyone forgets that the Hyundai/Kia even exists. (rofl2)

That's true... and I no longer laugh at their "quality jokes" anymore. They are like the a growing force in the auto industry that still no one knows about.

Although I would have to say that their minivan is still not up to the level of the other 3.

IMO, Hyundai is WAY ahead of Kia. No comparison.
lol, Hyundai owns Kia, and btw have u seen the new Kia Optima?

^^Um, can you say Honda Accord's been humping a VW Golf while staring at a Scion Tc's grill? Just kidding. It's kinda different, but not at all. Weird. Although the LEDs on the front are cool, they're cluttering up the look big time.

So does anyone know someone in Japan/Asian who owns one? We need some first hand insight! This wait for US release is killing me...

Yes, but that does not mean the same car design/finish/quality although they might share several nuts and bolts, Hyundai is way ahead of KIA on that sense (not that I like any)

Yeah, we hope something pops-out soon (Japan is first), but I don't foresee radical changes i.e. on driving, the basics remain very similar
