Red Neons Under Dash and Seats

Well guys i just finnished the install of some red neons under the dash and seats of my P5. I did it just to spice it up alittle plus i got board waiting for my Injen CAI to come. Its supposed to be here wednesday so when i get it ill take some pics of that install... but let me know what you think of the red!

I like neon inside cars, but it looks tacky outside. I was thinking of doing the same in mine. Looks Great!

Thanks Man! yeah i know what you mean.... i doubt ill do the outside thing... although just to play devils advocate... girls love the flashy s***! so hey maybe ill do it for that sake! you know them there not really into the performance side of things like we are! but thanks for the reply!

nice job! im thinking of doing the same, either red or orange...only on the inside though...neons outside look gay!

i plan on wiring mine up to the headlight switch so when the lights go on, the neons come on too

I put a seperate switch in the little weird thing that i think is supposed to hold coins.... its on the left hand side by your dimmers and fog light switch... there are two open... on flat one, and the weird coin thing... well i took it out, put a push button switch from radio shack and fliped it upside down and put it back in so it kind of covers it with the housing flipped around...

Looks good I'll post video of mine and Chandlers (MP5Driva03) later tonight.

I wired mine to the drivers side map light switch and took that bulb out. No biggie since the passenger plus dome light is enough to read anything in the car a night.

I bought Lite-Glow.... i was surprised at the color match... its pretty damn close to the red of the dash....

The plan next is to make a shield to direct the neon down onto the Floor mats more directly.
Outside neons may happen...but probably just in the grills and not underneath it.

don't these kind of lights come with the cig. adapter? i don't wanna use that cuz it'll look cheap.

i don't know anything about electrical stuff in cars, so can someone give info on how to do connections.. like to the headlight switch, buttons, etc.

Nope they didn't come with one though you can by a cig adapter.
You can hook them to just about any source in the car.
Like to my map light switch all I did was cut away some of the wire plastic for the map lights. Then spliced in the neons and electrical taped them back up. The map light will still work plus it turns the neon on.

You could also go to Radio Shack and pick up a simple off/on switch which I am guessing he did.

This is funny. I had pic's of my red neons, which look exactly the same, and I was called rice.

The power comes off of your source to one side of the switch, then off of the other side of the switch to the neons. the way i hooked it up is probably not the best way but it works. all i did was take a single 8 guage wire (extra left over from the neons) I striped the shielding and wraped the wire around a fuse (10Amp in fuse box) and stuck the fuse back in. this is being used as my power source. I do it this way so i dont have to splice into any stock wires and its easly removable. then from that wire it goes to one side of the switch. from the other side of the switch it is connected to the "Positive" wires (hot) of the neons (after i cut of the Cigarette connector. then the negitive or ground wires i just grounded to a bolt that connects to the frame of the car. the neons are under the dash straped up with zip ties.. its the easyist way to do it plus its not like people are going to look under your dash so it doesnt really matter. I mean you can take the time to make brackets but its not really worth it.

I can take pics upon requests of the install if you would like... well the messy wire part anyway!

Yep right now I have 3m tape holding them under there.
I still want to make a shield to place the lights in so it directs more downward towards the floor, and then mount that that shield under the dash.

u can get those type of shields at an aquarium store. they make them to direct light for amphebians, but it works great for the neons too. It's light weight and wont bend that easily.
