Who here has the red neon behind the lower grill of there P5? I remember seeing it but I can't remember who it was. I am pretty sure that it was sombody from Canada.

What kind did you use? Was it water proof?

Thanks

Mighta been me...

But I'm all USA lol

Streetglow Gold Series. Completely weather proof. It's advised to remove them during winter because of the threat of ice forming on them, but I used them all through winter and they look bad @$$ reflecting off of snow.

Anyways, I'll attach a picture to the bottom of what my front end USED to look like about a week ago. I got pulled over for a second time because it's illegal to have any color other than white or yellow showing in the front. All I did was put electrical tape across the bulb...so it still glows red throughout the grill, but the bulb is hidden.

Do you think it would work if I bought a cheap walmart brand light and then sealed the edges with silcone? They say not to expose to water but with it sealed...? What did you wire it up to? A switch then to the battery? How did you attach it to the plastic? I was thinking of hooking it above where you had it so you couldn't see the stick. What do you think?

Sorry bout all the questions.

Not that I'm into neons at all...but it'd be really awesome to see a complete start to finish how-to on installing neons.....anybody up for that?

well mine are already installed....

but I can take all the pics you want to see of where and how we mounted each bulb, where the wires are running, and where my switch is to turn them on. And also the tape I had to put on the front bulb to please the cops (hopefully that works  )

Basically, with your imagination, you could mount the bulds whereever you want. You have to ask yourself how much light do you want to see...what's legal, what's not...

but I can definitely show you plenty of pics of my setup and you can generate ideas from there.

I could make a "how-to" kinda like my one I just made on removing the rails. The only thing is, you'll pretty much only see pics of the finish project. I don't feel like taking off my bulbs and reinstalling them just to take pictures of the process.

but if ya want pics...ask...and thou shall receive :)

Oh smithers_0990...

sorry, didn't mean to not answer your questions.

I chose Streetglow Gold Series bulbs because the bulbs seem to have a thicker plastic casing around the actual bulb, to protect it. Also, the wires are thick, almost like 6 gauge or something. Then the wires connect each bulb, which then runs back to a nice looking transformer that looks safe. The downside, if one bulb goes out, they all go out.

From the transformer, they connect to a switch mounted below that little pocket in our dash by our hood release. This kit will cost you over $200 at Streetglow, but if you go through JcWhitney.com (like I did :) ), it's only $160. But you also get an UNLIMITED WARRANTY. That was the kicker for me.

Now, Streetglow offers another series, which has no warranty, each bulb connects to this tiny transformer seperately, the wires are small (like headphone wires), and they don't look as safe. That's just my opinion. My friend that helped install mine, got this lower series for his g/f's Beretta. lol I'm guessing this lower series will be like something you'll find in Wal-Mart. It saves money!! But with our low cars (and if it's lowered), there is a bigger threat of things hitting the bulbs. It's just a personal choice.

But! The 411 on the transformers for the Gold Series (what I have) is that they will eventually go bad. The same dude that helped install mine, his transformer went bad. He got another one under warranty. I'm wondering if this will happen to mine, but it's been close to a year now having my lights and no problems yet (just with the law ;) )

As for finding a spot in the front to hide the bulb, I tried...but I broke down and just put tape over the front. I had the front black inserts out and everything looking down in the front trying the find a different spot. No luck for me....

Good luck to you though!! Anymore questions...just ask...
