recomended gas?

what is the recomended gas for the RX-8? I think it's 91, am I right?

93 down here... in louisiana, i think its the highest u can get in ur area

I use the cheapest one for my 7......I would guess it wouldn't make any difference since RX8 is a rotary. Our engines burn much, much hotter than cylinders.

it does make a differance, higer 93 is safer than 91, if it detonats at all, those carbon abexi seals will get a beating, and if they screw up, need a new engine..

yeah, but the old rotarys didnt have all the new technology that the 8 has, ex: 3 stage intake..

the 10.0 compression ratio of the 8 is a lot higher than any previous NA rotary engines

the owner's manual recommends premium unleaded gasoline (91+)

you *can* run regular on the 8, the ECU will retard timing to prevent knock, but you risk filling up with less than high quality 87, which will result in knock/ping/things that happen when you fill up with bad gas, and you KNOW rotarys don't take too well to knock

I always use premium on the 8, it's like $2 difference compared to filling up with regular, if you can afford an 8, you can afford that extra $2 for better knock protection AND better performance

don't compare NA 7's to RX-8, NA FB/FC's barely has 9:1 compression ratio

whatever premium is in your area (91+). we have 93 here. be prepared to become very familiar with the gas station because your only going to get about 18mpg out of a tank about the same size as the p5.
