2004 mazda 3 GT GFX, manual
got my recall letter in the mail yesterday for the air bag sensor..anyone else got one of these yet and how was the dealer in getting it done for you

A co-worker of mine got it yesterday. Just bring it to the dealer for inspection and replacement (if necessary).

When this issue first came out last year, dealerships didn't have enough of these sensors in stock (so the recommendation at that time would have been to call ahead to your service department). It would still be recommended to do so, but manufacturers typically build up stock before sending out recall notices.

I bought my mazda 3 in Vancouver, Canada in mid January 2004. So far, I didn't receive any letters regarding the airbag sensor......

Good for you! I only effects some cars within a certain VIN range.

Yeah I got this in the mail the other day too... Im not worried about since my airbag light is not on...

But next service I bring the car in for I will have them look at it.

Here's a good airbag story I feel like sharing just for the hell of it.

The 96 and 97 J-bodies (Pontiac Sunfire and Chevrolet Cavalier) had an issue where something contacting the floor pan could cause a high frequency vibration that would cause the airbag to go off. The force required to produce the vibration was only that of a 3 to 5 ounce hammer.

Anyways, that was really irrelevant, but I enjoyed sharing.

OH NO!!!! Today i just RECEIVED the letter regarding the airbag sensor from mazda!!!! Luckily, my airbag light is not on, but mazda said that they will still fix the airbag sensor for me. GOOD!! I am going to bring my mazda3 to them next week~

I got mine a few weeks ago, going in for an oil change next week or this Fri as time allows, figure I'll kill two birds with one stone.
