Rear wiper delete?

I've tried and failed. I know the member Justanotherp5 deleted his though.

I removed the wiper and motor assembly and bought some metal and plastic caps for the hole in the rear window hatch but they were either just a tad too big or too small. I had a hard time finding anything that would fit perfectly and seal well with silicone and I was worried about the harsh winters here leaking in through the hole.

The delete plug from an Acura Integra works, IIRC. I believe it's an early 90s model that fits.

We have a winner...lol...actually it is any Acura/Honda rear wiper delete plug which can be found at Honda/Acura dealer for around $8...it is rubber and fits the hole perfect...I have had mine on for quite some time now and love it...

Nice! Thanks for the info, Scratch. I'll hit up a Honda stealership tomorrow. My rear wiper motor burnt out last year and my Mazda6 wiper assembly just looks pretty and doesnt function.

rubber cork from lowes works too...not sure on size but ill measure tomorrow morning and post up so people can have the info

here is how it looks

doesnt leak water at all and is holding up great

Hey Scratch, what year/model should I be looking for to snag a Honda/Acura wiper plug? You wouldn't happen to have a part number would ya?

No clue...I just told them I needed the wiper delete plug...from what I understand they are all the same size...

Hey Simon, what section at Lowes did you find that plug? And is it rubber or cork? I've measured the window hole once before when I attempted to delete the wiper, IIRC it's about 1-1/16". Because the 1" plastic plugs I bought were juuuuuust a bit too small and the 1-1/4" plug was too big.

I just got back from the Honda dealership and the salesman at the parts counter was super nice and helpful but alas, we couldn't find anything. I used to have 3 Civics so i know Hondas pretty well and I could've sworn m 93 CX hatch had a rear wiper delete but according to his parts diagram it had a wiper and a bunch of caps. The cheapest one was $23 and was non-returnable/refunable. So I'll continue to look online and try to find something.

If anyone has any other ideas, part numbers or specifics I'm all ears. (hear ya)

i just measured, the rubber cork i bought was 1 1/4" wide, it was rubber but i think its called a rubber cork or a rubber stopper, they were in the hardware section right next to the bolts

Well I got my wiper plug from eBay today and just like Scratch said, it fit great.

It's very easy to remove the plastic hatch plastic, then there are two 10mm bolts holding the wiper motor assembly to the hatch. Discnonnect the electrical plug, unbolt the 10mm nut from the wiper arm and use a big pair of pliers or a 24mm deep weld socket to remove the assembly from the glass. Then just pop in the rubber delete plug and make sure it seals around the lip.

The Honda part number is; 91617-SB6-000

Here it is installed.

looks good. to bad no one has a gloss black one so it would flow better with the window. I just deleted the wiper on my brothers GTI, will be doing mine tomorrow. :). But we did as Justanotherp5 did. Put he had foun gloss black plastic caps.. 1 1/16" and used clear silicone to fill the gap. thats what the Vdub guys did anyways...

I would rather have the black plastic cap but I couldn't find any that were 1-1/16". And I used a little ArmourAll on the rubber and it shined it up so it's glossy now. Regardless, caps on the rear window look much better than the OEM P5 arm. But the Mazda6 arm looks great.

The amount of dirt the P5 picks up while you drive just on the rear window, I cannot see how this adds to the car......
