i just installed the boyo rear view camera on my p5... headunit avh-p4300dvd i hooked up the camera wires to the reverse light so it would auto come on the screen wen put in reverse... it works wen either menu is selected from the head unit polarity switch to battery or ground it workd both ways wen put in reverse... but when i press the clutch into shift the camera turns on like its in reverse i dnt understand how this is happening and cant get it to stop lol... maybe i did something wrong but i hooked neg and pos wires up rite idk im really scratchin my head on this 1

where did you hook up the reverse signal? normally one runs it off the reverse lights..
little confused at the polarity part, and i think your saying the clutch sense is activating the camera, which means you tapped the clutch sense (safety feature) and not the reverse lights

Where did you get the reverse wire? The best spot to get it is behind the drivers side a pillar. It is a red/yellow wire. Test it b/f you hook it up. It is a positive trigger wire, so sett up the head unit for that.

i tapped directly to the reverse light like i actualy took off the rear light and spliced rite into the reverse light which yes is the yellow and red and the ground... yea idk theres a setting on the headunit that says rear camera polarity and choices are battery or ground then off like turn camera off.... idk but im going to try a diff ground and see if thats the problem... i spliced there because they only give you enuff length wire that you can only reach the tail lights the camera is mounted on the plate

What did you hook the violet/white wire on the pioneer radio harness to? Thats the wire you want hooked up to the reverse wire. The camera power wires I usually extend and run with the video wire up to the radio and make the connections there. That way you know it is fused with the radio and all the connections are together.

oh ok, i understand the polarity part now, it's asking if the signal is a +12V trigger or a -12V trigger. this case it should be positive.
according to the resources at work theres a red/yellow wire in the kick panel that's the reverse signal. the clutch signal is a black/yellow so its close enough to mix up

I remember when I did mine, I searched for about half hour trying to find it there and couldn't find it, and this is the stuff I do for a living. I finally traced it back from the light itself and found it went down the a pillar instead of the kick panel.
