RC car drifting

looks like that black lip is just there to help with the adhesion when gluing on regular tires...no biggie! propartsusa, if you are going to do that with your nitro...don't hold the trigger down!!! you'll expand your piston sleeve really quick if you go just wide open throughout the turns.

haha so what do you suggest when im in the turns? Expanding the piston sleeves to fast will blow my motor possibly sooner? What if i just make the thing so rich that it don't matter? What should i do about my second gear as well? Make it not even engage into second?

Will Superglue work for the pvc too?

ahh hell no, let it engage into second, no biggie. You don't want to richen up your motor too much otherwise it will start burning up glow plugs and running like s***! Just go into the corners and just keep blipping the throttle, basically anything but holding it down all the way.

how will this pvc get traction....? to get going in the first place?

Will superglue work to put the pvc pipes on?

PVC won't get much traction, you are going to have to let them spin a bit to get it going, or just use a little throttle. Don't use superglue, use plastic model cement. the plastic model cement actually welds the two pieces of plastic together.

Why for videos most cars are electrice for drifting... and not nitro?

electric=instant torque! and you can sit there with the thing floored and it won't wear as much on an electric motor vs. nitro engine.

i think they use simple plastic pipe tubing for the wheels. i suppose ya just find the right diameter pipe that will fit snuggly into your rims. i think this is going to be my next project for my team associated rc

you are going to make a stadium truck drifter!!! SWEET!!! I should make one with my friends t-maxx...LOL

get a traxxas 4tec, i had an elec 4 tec and it waqs awesome. Great price and a good car to start w/. Me and my friend used to drift like that w/ my 4 tec in our detail show for hours. By the way there is a class of racing for rc called rally. it is a stadium truck chassis w/ a 1/10th scal car bodie.by the way the traxxas 4 tec nitro does 63 mph out of the box. and their .25 motor is sweet!

pretty cool... not too shabby. at first when i saw it i was suprised because like someone said earlier they dont drift that long..

pvc tires are a pretty cool.. and cheap idea for a different rc effect.

they only thing with a nitro runing that setup is there prolly wouldnt be enough speed to help disapate the heat from the motor thru the cooling head.... over heating will harm the motor

id definitely recommend doing it with a $50 electric motor versus a $300 nitro engine...

my rc contribution... my old kyosho.

by the way...we had a fatality here in houston about a month or so back in a rc helicopter accident...

the pilot was decapitated.... not good.

I put my pvc tires on my car and it ran for like 30 - 40 mins... Now the motor won't start. I think i might have got some water in it... But The pull start is really hard to pull like it squeaks... and i dunno what do you think could have happened?

thats not good...

during ur run.. did u by chance monitor the temparture?

the only time i have heard that noise is when the main crank bearing blew in the engine and seized up the motor... my motor was toast. had to buy a new one.

if u cant turn over the flywheel of the motor with you hand u may have some serious issues.

if u can... id take the motor out... im not too famailar with what size or motor u are running but you should be able to remove the back plate on the motor to get a good view of the crank inside. see if the bearing is in one piece etc.

also, remove the cooling head so that u can see the top of the piston and see if there is any debris on the piston or even mashed up on the top of the cylinder head.

i have a feeling some thing blew and is keeping the motor from turning over.

I found out what was wrong. the low speed adjustment was to rich. So i backed that off.. Plus my clutch nut was not on tightly... and my clutch springs were broken... Hehe. So I slide the car around for a while but my pull start broke. So now im goin to fix that and im in search for a used rs4 pro 3 kit used. Any idea? I was looking to spend as little as possible. $100.00? I have an older futaba speed control that i can use i think.. Its about 10 years old.. you think that would work fine?

well im glad to hear its nothing major... good deal!

best bet that im aware of is ebay for used rs43s.... maybe some other forums but im not too sure where are some high traffice onroad forums... i was mainly in offroad...

hope it helps some.

Ya my friend rs4 pro 3 works so good with these new wheels. He put his 22 turn motor in after an incident of his speed control blowing up with his 15 turn. The thing drifts so good. My nitro drifts like crap because theres so much power and weight... Oh well. hehe. I will try to check out e-bay but i don't see any. So you think speed controls that are 10 years old will still work?
