Rat poop!!!

Ok I'm trying to get this freakin' Rat off my engine. My car is parked outside everynight a few feet away from the trash can and "Ratatouille" loves to have his dinner in my engine bay where it is warm. When he is done he leaves poops in there. I want to place a mouse trap but not sure how big this thing is, by the size of those poops it must be a big one. Any suggestions or has anyone had this problem?

get some rat poison at the local hardware store. put some around the trash or under the car. that'll fix'em.

Really moth balls will work? Not sure about the cat because it will be eaten by the coyotes walking around my neighborhood.

I've used moth balls to get rid of cats around my neighbourhood during the summer time, I don't see why rats would enjoy them lol.

The cat would be fine under the hood, I mean, it's protected by your hood....and no coyote could fit under the engine bay to get up there....

Sleep in your car well just lay there and wait then turn your engine on when you think hes in there and hopefully one of your belts will get em. No i guess just get a trap i heard rats n stuff like peanutbutter.

I'm assuming the rat goes in around 11 PM at night. I get home from work around 10:30 - 10:45PM. I think he likes it when the engine is still warm. I'm just not sure how long he stays in there. I do have a remote start, I remotely started my engine a few times tonight and waited for this thing to come running out, but no he's not there tonight. I'll try again tomorrow night.

Rat poison is a good idea but last time I place Rat poison near my trash can my neighbors cat ate it and died and she treaten to sue me. Thanks for that suggestion though. I will try the peanut butter and a trap underneath my car.

It's a good thing his got food to eat from my trash, if not I think he would be chewing on my wires by now. So far all the wires seem to still be in one piece.

Alright, the answer is to make him a nice little warm home next to the trash can. I'm talking like a little space heater and everything, with a little cozy bed and all. Once you have that set up, make sure to leave plenty of food out for him. This way you ensure he stays out of your engine bay and won't think twice about eating some lousy wires while he has real food to take back to his little mouse home. Problem solved :)

Also, your neighbors cat comes on your property and consumes rat poison, and somehow it's your fault? Keep your dam cat inside lady. Jeeze... lol

I don't know about your area but where i live it is required by law to have all aminals on a leash. Yes even a cat but no one enforces it. obviously. lol

She sounds like the type of person that would try to sue you if you ran over her dog in the street because it darted out into traffic.

Also you can get some DECON and put it in your engine bay just remember to remove it before you go anywhere or start your car.

+ 1 and I prefer cats over dogs.

What abt those sticky trap? maybe that will work...If not just get the DECON ones. It came with its own tray so no spill for you.

i think milk shot out my nose when i read "neighbors cat ate the rat poison and died" post. i shouldn't laugh.

but i am.

What about getting some new, better sealing, trash cans. And some good rat traps. Just be caseful with rat traps, those things are really powerful. Moth balls really do help keep away rodents. Oh, and you can but covered bait traps, so that the poison/food stuff is a little harder to reach so your neighbours cat can't get at it.

There is also the bb gun and patience method, it worked on the racoons in my backyard.

WOW no one posted the right way to get rid of the rat. Invite him to cook for you. That will do the trick.
