Rally2003's Build Thread

I mainly use flickr, but I have an issue with it on another forum. Pics are loading right now.

How the interior is now when I drive her around.

Wheel bearings, exhaust, relocate harness wires, AFR gauge, and looking over the suspension. Probably going to slap on the R1-S tires and run them around and see how much grip I'm going to have. Hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow to make the interior look a little better too. The first NWOR SCCA event is at the Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, OH next Sunday on the 21st. I've got to pick up a 12lb battery from a friend later this week and the rest is just minor odds and ends that can wait if they have to. Crunch time.

Wheel bearing and exhaust are fixed. I hurt my back this last weekend so that might be about all I can do before the 1st autoX this year. I just need to adjust the hide height for the front wheels to allow a little room for play since my tires are going to poke out almost 2" in the front. The car sounds and runs great. Hopefully I'll be able to start picking up more hours at work when school is out and start making the cf parts asap.

Rear BFG's are now mounted on the RPF1's Hopefully I'll be able to run them around on saturday if it isn't wet out so they aren't so slick on Sunday. I still need to pick up the battery and put some of the interior back together. I'll be making a for sale section in my sig for parts that I don't long need that I have taken off. List right now includes: a set of RacingHart wheels, stock Calloway manifold, stock downpipe, piece of vibrant J pipe, passenger side airbag and some other odds and ends.

New tire + new setup + cold weather = Spinage!

Had a great time racing today. I should have lost. Seems like I need to upgrade my driver mod every time I make a drastic change to the car. Speacial thanks to my pit crew chiefs Adam Maas and Ryan Domigan. The car runs great. I can't wait until warmer weather and a little more experience with the new setup. Here are a couple pics from today. Hopefully I'll have some video and moving pics.

After talking to a couple of guys online, it looks like I'll probably be getting some JayRacing thermal spacers for the TB and IM :) Just need to save up some more Moola!

I love the look of the 255's on there. You should post the pics in the stance thread to show them how "herraflush" you are now! (I have no idea if that's what it's called)

I forgot about that thread. More like Hellafast or HellaGrip :)

LOL, I'm telling you I'm jealous. I'm doing all this work to make the P5 fast as hell but you've got all the grip. Can't wait to see the CF widebody that has to happen to cover those up.

^Thanks. I just posted in the stance thread. Hopefully cf this year will go well and I'll start pumping out some parts :)

Today I've been lookng into getting a different set of springs with lower spring rates for autoX events that are on uneven surfaces. This last event at the Chysler Plant in Perrysburg really made the car skip around and rev randomly because of the tire contact with the ground surface, resulting in lose of power, less traction, and sometimes uncontrolable steering which also made it harder to brake in some areas. I think I'm going to try a setup around the 400lb front and 450lb rear and see how it reacts to those conditions. Then I'll change out those springs for track events and aautoX events at the airport. Probably going to pic up some Ksport springs before the next event since they only cost about $90 a pair. Just have to decide on the spring rate.

Just got back from my honeymoon and found out that I basically lost my job, which will greatly affect the progress on the MSP right now. I'll still be autoXing her, but the upgrades and modding is at a hault until I can find another job and pay off some bills that I'm going to owe on. Sucks because I'm feeling the modding itch right now. Thinking positive right now. I should have video and some pics of the next events coming up in June when I have a autoX at Toledo, followed by a Mid-Ohio Test event the very next day, and the GrandAm race at Mid-Ohio the following weekend.

Damn, saw you posted and got excited that you made progress on the baffle....Sorry to see it's bad news :( Sorry to hear about your job. Hopefully you can find something soon.

I will still be working with the baffle. I want to have it installed for the event after the Mid-Ohio runs. It will be a lot easy to determine and observing how well it works for smaller runs rather than going all out on a full track and risk blowing the motor all up at once. If I get ancy I might just do it though. I really have nothing th lose right now. I'll just have to work out all of the design before the first actual installation and run. Finger crossed everything goes well the 1st time around, but I'm prepared to fail/learn and build a better product. I'm currently on version 2.5 and just changing some positioning of the trap doors to provide better flow.

I'm sure I'll have a new job soon to help things get back on track.

That's the spirit! I'm sure you'll be fine, can't wait to see some videos of your Auto-X runs.

By the way besides the 2-3 pictures provided with what I assume of concept 1, why hasn't there been more updates on the oil pan progress...2.5, I didn't know there was a 2!

The concept was actually made out of plexy. I made version 1 but never installed it. Then I modified the overall design slightly. Then I changed the location of the trap doors, but haven't completed it yet. Should be done soon. Hopefully real soon.

Best of luck getting back on track man.

Thanks Phen. I'm sure I'll find another job to get me through school. I can't wait to finally finish college after 8 long years and get a big boy job.
