Rally2003's Build Thread

I remember my old P5 had the ARP studs and nuts with the MAM exhaust manifold. I actually had a specially "modified" wrench to reach a couple of the nuts. Thank God I only have two exhaust ports and four studs to deal with now!

I might have to go to Harbor frieght and "modify" a wrench to fit a section of a 12pt socket. Might not be that pretty, but I'm sure I can make it work.

On another note I received my new rubbers for the front. They're purdy! Can't wait to see how much grip I can get out of them.

Tomorrow I'll be getting the 255's mounted on the 17x9's and trying them out to see how much damage they are going to do. Hopefully the NRG stuff will be in too. I orded turbo studs yesterday and will be working on some side work to help pay for some more parts.

With my thunder i had to use a different nut on 1 and then had to shave some of the wrench off to slide between a runner and the stud. Hooray modded tools

I put on most of the Techflex for the wires around the motor for the main sensors, ignition, and injectors. I just have some other odds and ends to do. I seperated the wires into different groups so it woud be easier to hide/manipulate the locations of the wires and so I can do the other wires at different at a different time if I wanted to. All I did was split them into groups a couple inches from the trun of the harness near the firewall.

Steering wheel and hub came in as well. The only problem with only using a short hub directly to the wheel that I found out is you can't use the horn button. Might need a spacer or I might make a CF insert.

Wheel looks nice, mang.

Are you not running climate controls at all?

I'm running controls, but I have to redo my bezel. The other bezel I made has 2 broken tabs on the back and doesn't line up right and when it does the top pops out off the dash. I need to make a run to the junkyard.

Oh okay. I was curious about those cold Auto-x mornings and defrosting the front windshield. Hit up Alex Todd for a bezel if you don't find one locally.

He is scratchnsniff right? If so he is the one I'm getting my driver side rocker panel through.

What is with you guys and defrosting the windshield?! LOL, it's not as big a deal as you all think. Frost/condensation is just a result of a difference in temperature between both sides of the glass. If you have frost/condensation on the outside of the windshield scrape/wipe it off, open up all the windows, and it shouldn't come back.

I'll have to take a pic this weekend of the engine bay. The Techflex cleans up the engine bay pretty good. I need to get ahold of my friend for the small battery he was going to give me.

DP studs should be waiting on me at the garage this weekend according to my tracking number. Looking forward to hopefully getting her back on the road and running open dp until the new flange gets welded on the vibrant. Can't wait to have a full 3" exhaust. Hopefully sounds good. Tires will be on this weekend for a clearence check too. Should be a great weekend.

The whole car is now wired and the dp is attached to the turbo. I went to go fire it up and FAIL! I forgot the keys at the apt 1hr away. I be back next weekend to check clearence with the meaty tires and some other stuff before I start messing with the foam forms for the fenders. I need to take the center exhaust piece in yet and have the flange welded to it to connect to the dp. Just orded 225/45/17 for the rear and need to still buy the 17x7.5 +48 RPF1's for the rear.

i used a ratchet wrench to do mine on my mani. only had trouble with the one in the bottom center. lucky i had a small wrench that fit it.
Last weekend when I bought it on with the stock bolts I thought it was a lot smaller of an area for some reason. I too use a ratcheting wrench that is 12pt so I guess it really isn't that big of an issue. I need to save money for other things right now, so they'll have to wait. I NEED TO GET REAR RPF1'S ASAP before I do anything else. If I have to I'll have to put the tires on 2 of the extra RH's I have and switch them over later.

It's already sold. Sorry. One of the few things that didn'tget passed down to your car.

Happy Easter my ass. lol. After I topped the car off with fluids, finished installing the steering wheel with the spacer, and put the street tires back on I fired her up to let her run to check for "minor" issues. So I noticed that my new modified EGR pipe was pushed up against the wter neck on the side of the head enough to cause it to leak at the clamp. I applied pressure to the pipe and somehow ended up snapping the the water neck in half sending all the new coolant to the. I was luckey to have another. This probably set me back 2 hours. After tearing it down, bending the EGR tube, and replacing the whole water neck I filled her back up again and started her up. Herit for about 10 minutes in the driveway. Then noticed more coolant dripping out from under the intake manifold. Now lower coolant hose was up against the EGR pipe and melted a hole through it leaking coolant all over. Bend the EGR pipe some more, used and extra tube, and then checked for any othe clearence issues with the EGR pipe and everything looked fine. Let it run again and had no issues. My cousin and I took her dowm the road and out in the country and it ran great... until the gauge cluster stopped working and then I lost all fuel to the car. Looked all over and couldn't find anything wrong. Pulled the car back home about 3 miles with my brother Trailblazer. Pushed her into the garage and went inside to eat.

Think, Eat, Think, Eat, Think...

Has to be electrical because there was fuel in the lines and I lost engine and cluster power. Went and looked at the main wire harness that passes by the EGR pipe and what do you know. It probably giggled around when hitting a bump or two in the road and found itself next to it. Melted four wired and grounded itself to the pipe and blew the engine and cluster fuse under the dase. Replaced them with fuses that were in the mirror defrost and rear wipper since I have neither and fired right up. She'll have to wait until next weekend to come back out of the garage again. Hoping the replace both wheel bearings and hook up the oil pressure and A/F guage. The 255's clear the turning radius of the fender, skirt, and bumber, but I can't lower it any more than where it is at right now until I make the fenders. She is going to be a little beast this year for SCCA :)
