raising boost

anyone know I can get my car flashed around DC Metro Area??
the service writer at my dealership "koons in marlow heights, md" has no idea about "flash".. it's annoying.. and I was wondering if i can get it flashed "under warranty".. don't want to pay for it.. hehe

thanks.

Please see the thread dedicated to the flash for more info. It's not a chargable item & is covered under warranty.

Thanks for clearin that up. You would think 12psi w/out flash would be more effective than 9 psi with flash. Assuming those are the upper boost limits in cold weather.
Thats why I asked.

No those aren't the upper boost limits. The limit is dependent on so many factors: air temp, altitude, humidity, etc.

Plus the stock limit can be raised or removed with an FCD.

I would like to see a dyno of a flashed car running 9 psi and one of a car w/out the flash running 12 psi. I don't thing the difference is that big, specially in the mid-range. A stock car makes over 10 whp more in the mid-range after the flash.

Flashed cars make only 6-7 more hp in midrange.
Let this be a general estimate.

Math lesson. Let stock boost be 6. If 1 psi = 8 hp then 9 psi + 7hp = 31 hp. 10 psi = 32 hp. 31<32.

about the same.

or lets say it makes 10 hp flashed

9psi +10 hp= 34hp
10 psi = 32 hp
but @ 12 psi = 48 hp

34<48 hp bigger difference.

intake, downpipe, exhaust can increase the hp per psi also.
so the more mods the more hp u will get per psi.

let 1 psi =12 hp

flashed
3*12= 24 plus 10 =34 hp @ 9psi

non flashed @ 10 psi
4*12=48 hp
6*12=72 hp @ 12 psi
again 34<72hp

Again its not accurate to say you will make X hp per psi but this is an estimate. Your state of tune will affect your hp gain per psi.

jersey_emt: I know what u mean by having factors that contribute to peak boost limits b4 Fuel cut out. I was just putting in a value that i thought was average from reading other posts.

Dude, not to be an a-hole, but my question wasn't as dumb as you made it out to be. When starting at around 6psi, who is going to know how much 3psi would give you as far as HP goes. Exspecially when people are talking about 15-18psi raises.
