radiator fans

I've searched around and couldn't quite find my answers. Are the 2 stock msp fans pushers or pullers? Pushers throw air towards the engine and pullers pull the hot air away from the engine? I bought 2 perma-cool slim fans that can be used as a puller or pusher...but just wanted to make sure I install them the most efficient way

They are pullers the mount on the inside of the engine bay pulling outside air through the radiator.

The pushers (which is not on the MSP) mount on the outside of the engine bay and push outside air through the radiator into the engine bay. FWIW, Pushers are less efficiant

Thats a better explanation. Guess I need to unmount my fans and turn the fan blade back around to make it a puller

I have a permacool fan mounted on my Turbo'd Suzuki Samurai GT project. The fan did not require me to unmount the blades. It was simply a changing of the polarity that caused it to run either pusher or puller!!! Did your instructions tell you to flip the blades???
IMHO I think Permacool has the best fans on the market!!! They cost less then the SPAL/Flex-a-Lites they have a higher CFM rating but draw less energy from the system. I searched and compared for days before I bought my Permacool fan then lucked out and find a new one on ebay for dirt cheap!!!

I saw your post about the permacool fans which is why I chose them. Yes my instructions said to flip the blades. I just unmounted the fans and flipped the blades back around. Gotta order new mounting kits for the fans now as I had to break them to get the fans off the radiator

zipties FTW
Long enough ones will go thru and come back around you can mount them to the stronger bars on the side

Depending on how you wire your fans and where you mount the shrouds is why you flip the blade. I had to make sure the polarity was right on my other car when I installed the aftermarket fans ( keeping with the wire color combo ). I also had to flip the blade. I believe they are mounted as pushers in the box to start with. Anyways easy way to tell is by connecting 12V to the wires. ( Just watchyour fingers! ) blades are sharp.

I just bought 2 SPAL slim fans, how can I mount them? You guys talked about zip ties? Help me out, I know I have one puller, and one pusher.

They normally come with a zip-tie like device to mount them with. Mine are mounted with a straight zip tie that goes through the fan and pushes through the radiator core. On the other side of the radiator where the tie comes out, you attach a end piece that you can slide down until the fit is snug. Someone with a picture might be able to help out but its very simple.
