Radar Detector Recommendation?

The blinder is only a laser jammer.

Plus its a felony to use any sort of jammer.(eek2)

why not just get the Blinder radar jammer? completely undetectable and 100% effective and about 40$ cheaper...I'm not sure on the laws I didn't look into it but Escort makes a jammer that works with their detector

Remember that a radar detector is exactly that. a detector. It detects a radar signal so if the cop got you, he got you :(

I have the 8500 x50 and think it sucks, I am very disappointed with it, I get alot of false alarms and it doesn't let me know a cop is there until I am 15 feet from him. There must be something wrong with this thing.

There's nothing really wrong with the 8500, you have to learn its readings...Some cops use radars that give off a signal that reads x, k, ka, or laser...the x signal is old and chances are its a false, you will probably pick up the x signal if you are near shopping centers because of the automatic doors(don't be to concern)...k is commonly use sometimes and its like a 50% chance its a cop so be careful...If you hit ka, you better slam on those brakes cause it is a cop...and if you see laser, have your hand open for a ticket...If you want to drive fast, DON"T BE THE LEADER, you need a rabbit in front of you...these radars pick up deflections giving you the chance to stop, but if your up front the only deflection your getting is a ticket...

exactly what he said. I have the X50 and it works wonders if you know how to use it. In VA when driving on the Interstate the state troopers give off a KA signal and sometimes a laser signal. Now 90% - 95% of the time the reading is accurate and it gives you more then enough time to slow down. Local police around here give off K signal. 80% to 90% of the time the signal is right. Soooo many times I've been saved using this thing. I travel mostly at night and the cops LOVE to catch drivers during this time.

This isn't meant to sound smart in any way shape or form, but if you're worried about being caught speeding, the answer is simply-- don't speed. Don't give a cop any reason to pull you over and you won't be. It's not worth the cost of a ticket, the marks on your record, and the inflated insurance. Be aware of the local speed traps and just keep up with traffic.

Even if you have the most up to date detector/jammer, there's still a chance (they're not foolproof). Besides, most non-state PD's aren't even allowed to use radar. So, unless you're on state PD patrolled roads, they're mostly useless. Local PD's will use either LIDAR, timing strips, or the stopwatch. The last two are undetectable. LIDAR is extremely difficult to detect.

Guys don't get it confused...Having a radar detector doesn't mean you have a lisence to speed but it keeps you aware of your surroundings...Yes everybody speeds sometimes even me and sometimes you dont even notice the speeds you are doing...Just be careful and don't abuse your radar and thinking you can speed

Understood, but if I wasen't going to be speeding somewhat. there would be no reason for me to have this car.
If that was the case I would have got a civic..woops I mean a hyandi.(yes)

Radar Detectors - Top Performers

As the Radar Roy's Radar Detector Rumble tests show, the new Beltronics RX65 performed as well as the Escort 8500 X50 and both have been awarded Radar Roy's Five Badge Rating!

Could it be that both are virtually the same detector, as Escort had bought out Beltronics two years ago and now both companies are under the same ownership? We think so!

The testing also showed that the Bel RX65 and the Escort 8500 X50 performed as well, and in some cases better then the more expensive Valentine 1 radar detector.

There are some features that are unique to the Escort X50 and The Bel RX65.

The Bel RX65 does have voice, Ku band for European use and the extra power on indicator mode with voltage meter mode.

The Escort 8500 is now available in either Red or Blue display. (Blue display costs an additional $40.00 because of the extra expense in making the blue LED lights)

Radar Roy's top choices for a windshield mounted radar detector are tied between the Escort X50 and the Beltronics RX65.

For the Professional Driver we recommend the Beltronics STi Driver radar detector.

The STi Driver is the first all band radar detector that can defeat all radar detector detector devices.

The STi Driver has the longest range on Ka band then any other radar detector we have ever tested. This detector also has four LED laser sensors in the front, for exceptional laser detection.

For budget minded buyers we would recommend the Beltronics RX55 as our first choice and then the Whistler Pro 73

The above is the reason I got the Bel RX65. Then I got a nice price from pricegrabber.com of $239 that made the deal even sweeter. And yes it is a tool and only as good as the user. Don't be stupid or think you are Superman and you'll be at least informed of your surroundings.

The Escort 9500i is awesome, at least on paper. I'm ordering one as soon as it is available. Then my shiny new Valentine will be up for sale.

Top three in my book are

1) V1
2) Escort 8500 or BEL STI (they are tied in my book)
3) Escort 8500 or BEL STI (they are tied in my book)

i think i am going to be getting a STI very soon cause its got some bells and whistles i really like, such as automatic audio mutting. because i listen to my music very loud. and i need a GOOD radar detector, cause after getting my ticket for going 130 in a 70 i dont want to pay any more tickets. and for those wondering how i didnt get arrested, lets just leave it at its a LONG story. plus if i dont get another ticket for 1 year it doesnt go on my record. (i had such a cool judge)

i like the radar dector because i do speed...i do anywhere from 5-10 miles over...in some areas i drive that's no problem...in othere areas 10 will get me in trouble...this is on the higway only (not in rush hour either)...i don't break the speed limits around town because it's not sfae at all...to much traffic and kids etc...
the detector reminds me to keep my speed in check....(drive)

so where do I get the "secret code" for my V1?? BTW, it has saved my @ss numerous times! Love the arrows and counter!

I have a Passport Escort 8500 x50 **RED Display** for sale
$205 shipped

Have the box, manuals, cig lighter adapter, mount, radar. Everything as it came form the store. Mint Condition.

I didn't want to start a new thread but I just got a Bel STi radar detector. Haven't really put it to the test yet as I haven't been on the highway with it.
