Racing Beat Install Leak

I just installed my racing beat cat back today but there are tiny leaks in two of the flanges. They don't leak that much only when i go past 4000rpm (only about a drop)but i wondered if this is really a big deal...I'm gonna fix it tomorrow...but it would be ok to drive right? The reason why it is leaking is because the gasket is not sitting flush in between the two pipes...any one have any advice on how to get the gasket to stay in the middle while i tighten the bolts?

it's okay to drive, only thing it may cause is a bad sound, and if you sit at a drive in movie theater, that no longer exist, you may get carbon monoxide poison, lol. It's okay to drive, no worries.

As for the gasket, one of the flanges should have a lip on it, that you can lay the gasket on, and it should hold there while you tighten up the bolts. look at the inside of the flanges, a lip should be sticking out on one of them along the inside ring of the pipe. Hang the gasket on like a hat on a rack. Heh, hope you find it all good.

What! They don't have drive-in's in Texas?

Open alcohol containers and shot gun racks are okay but you can no longer watch a movie in your car! :) :wtf:

Just kidding of course.

I was driving through southern Wisconsin a few months ago and saw an operating drive in theater. Way back in the woods or something (I think it was in the white trash capital of Wisconsin). :)

Don't get me wrong though, born and raised in Wisconsin, but now I'm a flatlander in Illinois.

With regards to the post, the leak won't kill you. If getting the gasket in place is a problem, try putting some grease or something like that on it to help it stick in place long enough for you to tighten the bolts.

Good luck and have fun!

Or just hold the gasket up wth a tiny flat screwdriver and torque uthe bolts untill the gasket sits by itself. Finish torquing the nuts after.

Yeah it amazes me how quiet this cat-back is..but i read that as it breaks in it gets louder...but trutfully(maybe i'm just deaf) You could hardly tell the difference
