dude, u say callaway did crappy tuning.
if u have read both of my previous posts u would see that all the tuning that callaway did went to s*** when mazda plugged in their ECU.
callaway ECU for MSP was tuned like any other ECU callaway tunes.......same technique as their vettes.

seriously, pay attention.

you're missing the point puckpimp, callaway did it right, mazda changed it after they designed it before it got to production. like mazda changed racing beat's suspension, they changed callaway's engine. they were asked to deliver a product, did it, and then their hands were no longer involved, it was mazda after they delivered
I see what you're saying. That way it looked to me was that Callaway did it their way, then Mazda said "no", so Callaway just did enough to get by. I thought they tuned the final product to Mazda specs, I didn't realize that Mazda did it with some Callaway R&D in mind.

no.

but i'm sure they have all the schematics and programs necessary to make one.
but i dont think they will bother themselves with making 100 or so ECUs.
not enough demand.

if one of the bigger merchants on here would contact them maybe callaway would sell the designs.

That is incorrect. Callaway did their stuff and sent it to back Mazda, then Mazda made the production tune. Callaway had nothing to do with the final tune of the car. Like the Doc said, Mazda did the same thing with the RB suspension. Is the clunk RB's fault? NO. Mazda changed the design after it was out of the developing companies hands, so it was not Callaway's fault we got a crappy tune, and it was not RB's fault that we need new bushings all the time.

Back on topic though, I can only shrug when Mazda says this will be the BEST performing sedan so far... I am guessing that a comparable MSP (comparable meaning it is modded to make it match the price tag of the MS6) would destroy a stock MS6 on ANY track. Hell, I bet on a autocross track or small road track they would even be pretty close stock vs stock.

Just my .02... only time will tell though.

And a Yugo modded to match the price of a Geo Metro modded to match the price of a Ferarri F50 de-tuned to match the price of your MSP that's modded to match the price of a MS6 will destroy the MSP on any track.

So by your logic, Yugo > *

The callaway guys get a kick out of seeing my car run. lol Their always writing notes about it...I think I have my own notebook.

they said "fastest" on their press release, not best performing just to clarify

Actually, I hear the Elise is going to be cheap has hell! With the lack of demand, if they pump enough in, they will go for under $30!
Although this might have been an old article about the 2004 release. Lotus redid the motor for 2005. Hmmm....brain's on the fritz.
Where did you hear that?

Lack of demand? They're sold out for two years. In those two years they're only building 2500 TOTAL.

The US is only getting the European spec( albiet federalized with Toyota motor) Elise for 2 years too...because Lotus got exemptions from the US government for bumpers and headlights for 2005/2006 only. In late 2006 and 2007 the car will look totally different and be heavier too.

They're $42,000 base now and with options and tax are runnig around $54,000 out the door....and that price may be going up soon because of the dollar to pound and for other reasons too.

i think everybody is in agreement and understanding now that Callaway did kick ass tuning and then when it was out of their hands Mazda made it the way it is. But I too love my MSP, I think everyone who has one on this forum likes theirs, otherwise sell it. Sure it could be better, then we would have nothing to complain about except s*** that we mess up on the car, Mazda gave us something to work on and improve. But the ECU does suck bad.

Back to the MS6 though... I got a chance at a 1500 mile "test drive" on a stock-sport-package Mazda6 and those are kickbutt cars. It's a different league from the Protege though - the 6 is a long-legged touring car, like a distance racer where our MSP's are autoX/sprinters. Even in stock "sport" tune, the 6 is very quick, handles better than comparable midsize cars, is quiet, and has decent seats and sound system. Blown to Mazdaspeed specs, with tighter sport seats, AWD, 6-speed and more HP it's going to be a great sport car. I wouldn't compare it to an Altima at all, it's closer to the old 3-series. The "6" is more of a "grown up's" car compared to our MSP's though... and this from a guy who's probably ~twice (or more) the age of many guys here...

The only reason the MSP had half-assed tuning is because Mazda decided to dial down the tuning that Calloway did. The problem was Mazda, not Calloway. I guess I will have to go read this article. I like the SCC reviews better than C&D.
Sigh...good advice from someone who can't spell Callaway.

hey dude, dont bash linux.
he knows more about cars than 98% of people on this forum.
this is not an english class.
