Quite possibly the last MSP comparo

man right now Toyota just sucks. TRD is a huge joke and they have no true performance vehicles.Acura's A-Spec option line is WAAAY better. In my opinion Mazda is really coming around in the last year or so as well.

IMO, Nissan/Infiniti has made a huge comeback & they have the best car lineup right now (except for the Spec V, which is lame). If they fixed that, it would be flawless.

what times did they get for the other cars. If they pulled a 15.9 for the MSP and cpmparable times with other cars, it might make more sence

Ralliart: 15.8, HFP Civic Si: 16.0, MSP: 15.9, SRT4: 14.3, SVT Focus: 15.6,Nismo SpecV: 15.6 and TRD Celica: 15.8.

What Nissan needs to do is come out with the Silvia here in america. Not a 240sx, but an awesome RWD car (doesnt have to be turbo, but like 200 hp) and around 21k or so.

If they wanted to to be fair then lets throw out the stock MSP and test one w/ a FMIC, boosting about um...10 psi, Apex DP and Catback and maybe a CAI. Then which car would be number one?
If they did that, your engine would probably blow and your warranty is gone.

Maybe it's not fair, but it would be stupid not to consider a Nismo S-Tune Spec V if it has a warranty just like if it came from the factory. If I had $21k to spend, I would look at the much better Nismo one, not the stock one, along with the MSP and SRT-4.

Maybe Mazda will offer warrantied upgrades...

Engine shouldn't come close to blowing up @ 10psi with all of those supporting mods.

Wow, such crap. I wonder if it would even matter if all of us actually took the time to drop R&T a note/email/letter stating just how way off they actually are...no, it prolly wouldn't amount to a hill of beans - as someone pointed out already, it's all about the green baby...

You couldn't GIVE me a Rallicrap, Si, or Sentra (puhlease), and especially not an overpriced and very over rated Celica....wow, just bad. Ok, I'm done now...guess I'll just hafta go outside my office and visit my MAZDASPEED...mmm, like the way that sounds! :D

I have no idea how a civic is only .1 seconds slower than the msp. Plus I never seen a svt, or nissan or even celica for that matter having a better QM.

So far, imo the best MSP article is in Import Racer (surprisingly, considering some of the other pos's they put in there as 'feature cars')...and it's ongoing, so I'm looking forward to the next article...too bad there's not more...

I totally agree with TampaBlackMSP, Import Racer did us right! I am also looking forward to their next article on the MSP even if their other articles suck (Ricer CRAP). Yeah and I dont think I would even take a Ralliart, Si or Sentra either. The MSP is the most complete package and the best bang for your buck out of any cars in the comparo.

i think they gave poor ratings for our car becuz its almost sold out their better of advertising cars that are still in production and some aftermarket parts that just got released... Consumerism

The "Speed" article is full of dookie!!! The only reason the TuRD Celica won was because of the pull Toyota put on the mag. And besides...the Celica is going bye-bye come 2005, and is going to be replaced by the Scion Tc (which IMO still needs alot of work).

Besides.....who needs dumbass articles like these when us MSP owners know the real score.

yes it is "all about the green"

Road and Track is not in business to help out auto makers that do not pad their pockets. They and other magazine's recieve 1,000's of dollars each year from certain manufacturers, so obviously their products will rank higher, no matter what.

We all know they cannot fudge the numbers on Ferrari or Porsche...etc, but its amazing how certain North American (pieces of s***) and Honda vehicles rate high against the super machines in comparison tests.

Only track results tell the real story. Lets see how the SRT-4's and Celica's perform this summer at auto-x.

Also these performance tests were done on machines that had been modified over and above stock, placing them in SuperSport, right up there with Porsche 911's and Turbo RX-7's.

Bottom line, R&T's tests are crap, and those that read and believe what they write are FKen idiots, along with those that buy R&T to make their buying decission complete.

I agree that nissan needs to make a sequal to the 240sx. I bet within the next 5 years we will probably see at least 5 new cars that are built for drifting. (if car manufacturers figure out wtf is going on) Toyota desperately needs a new supra also.

(argh)

I remember picking up some BS propaganda brochure from Toyota a year or so ago about how the Celica GTS was better than the RSX-S & the Cougar V6. Everyone knows the Type S is far superior, but they had all of these comparisons & BS explanations "proving" that it was better. IMO, this is just the same thing continued...Toyota pays off the magazine to show the TRD Celica finish so well. I don't even want to get started on TRD because I used to own a Toyota & TRD is full of crap. They are better known in the US for the series of off-road trucks they sell than for performance parts for sport compacts. Besides, this TRD edition (an even bigger ripoff than the Action Package they already sell) is only made for 2 reasons...to compete with the RSX A-Spec & because Toyota has to try to fill the void left by the Supra.

(fu)

Hmmm.... having extensively raced both a Celica GT-S and an RSX-S in STS autox, I would prefer the GT-S. It has better handling out of the box, and the extra power in the RSX is hard to take advantage of because of the lack of LSD. In both cars, the inside wheel tends to light up, but the lower overall weight for the Celica is more of advantage than the RSX extra power.

The SCCA seems to agree with me since they moved the RSX out of DS and into the slower GS class for stock cars, while leaving the Celica in Ds because it was 'competitive' there.... Not that I believe that for a minute, mind you... The MSP, WRX, BMW 330, IS300, and ITR have dominant advantages over the GT-S in Stock form.

On the other hand, most of the handling issues can be made equal with the right aftermarket parts and the ability to shift and stay on the cam are nice touches with the RSX. It is also more comfy than the Celica for the street.

I can't speak for the rest of your rant, although I do tend to agree...
