Quick question for prospective buyer

I might be able to purchase a Mazda2 in a little while and had a few questions.

Is there any over the counter tranny fluids available for the auto besides using oem fluid

If i get the manual can you use pennzoil synchromesh in the gear box

I like to do alot of my own maintenance,is there anything else i should look at while making the deal. I am going to try to have them throw in the center arm rest, mud guards and might just buy the roof rack. This little car seems awesome and will save me a bundle compared to the tacoma i had picked out. I really wanted a truck for my hunting and fishing but with the fuel savings and money saved in a 2 it will be a great investment for me with gas prices going higher. thanks

Why not just play it safe & use the OEM fluids? I don't know if you can use that other stuff, but I'm sure someone will answer. Whatever you do don't overpay on the car. You can find the base model all over the internet for right around $13,500. (MSRP $14,975 or $14,730), so keep that in mind, and that's without even trying to haggle a better deal.

I saw the sport, but am going with the touring, im hoping if things go as planned to pay in full that day. I havent test driven one yet but cant get over how awesome they look. They seem to fit the bill in what im looking for, i want a hatchback for my gear, during the week fold the seats up to tranport the kids, good gas mileage, and great looks. I also cant decide on a color, i want the spirited green but the wife wants conservative, i want to have fun so figured the green fit me. Are any manual users here find it a pain around town, i drive 90% city 10% highway. Also what is a good starting point for haggling, there asking 17,500 for the touring, should i start at 15,000 even and move up with haggling in the stuff i want, remember this is a cash deal i hope. thanks.

It would probably be easier for you if Mazda offered the 2 in Aurora Blue in the US

I drive a manual 2 and it feels right at home in the city. It remains nice and planted on the highway, but it cannot hide that it's out of its comfort zone.

If you are thinking about the touring then take the MSRP and subtract about $1200.
That would be the absolute max you should pay.

There are rebates out there, but they're just not advertised. I'm not sure of the exact amount, but
you can either have 0% financing or $500 extra on the rebate. So if you'd rather have 0% then absolute max
price would be MSRP minus $700 or around there.

You should be able to get close to $2,000 below MSRP with a little haggling.
