Im looking to add the Aux Mod unit to my HU and I have done a fair amount of searching and research on the forums here before posting and have not found the answer to my simple question...

This is my HU on an '06 Mazda3 hatch

I do not have a Tape/MD button, but is the Media button the same?? Does my HU have the Tape/MD connector inside to work with the Aux Mod?

Thanks for the response!

you have an MS3? If so why would you need an auxmod? There is an aux input in the center console....what i do recommend is the Neo Prolink...look it up...for either the MS3 or MZ3...its awesome...control you ipod...always charged ipod...from your steering wheel and get the name of the track/album/playlist on the HU display...best 180 ive spent on my MS3

When I push the MEDIA button, I see "AUX" on my display and it uses whatever is hooked into that 3.5mm jack.

Guys he has a '06 3...... the ACI wasn't installed until '07. To answer your question however your HU should still have the connector on the bottom, and the MEDIA button should still activate the Aux Mod. As to getting an ipod integration method.... how do we know he's using this for an ipod?

The Neo Prolink with Text display (PODMAZ-R2V1) shows up as only available on 2006 and newer models. The prolink that works with the '04 (PODMAZV1) doesn't display text and costs $199. I don't know that the RSV1 doesn't work on '04/'05 models but they specifically don't list it. DICE also makes a ipod module with Text display that does work on the '04 model, and costs a little less than the neo prolink.

EDIT: I sent an e-mail off to neocaraudio.com about whether or not it's compatible on the '05 model. The PODMAZ-R2V1 does require a SAT button as it emulates a sirius receiver, however '05 models have the SAT button. There may of course just be some other firmware issues with it working in '05 models.

icspots, thanks to your sticky writeup in the audio section I was able to check all my options. The aux mod is the perfect solution for me because of the versatility of the standard jack vs. ipod only solutions. I pulled the HU and checked to make sure it has the port on the bottom and it does. Ill let you know if it works correctly. If it does maybe you can update your sticky to include that the aux mod works for the "Tape/MD button or Media button". Just a suggestion because I was unsure if my Media button was the same as the Tape/MD. Im completely new to the Mazda3!

Anyways ill post results as soon as I get it.

to throw another option out there, I just got the unit from Dice Electronics. It used up my satellite radio plug but I did not plan on getting it anways. This way I still maintain my aux in but I also get iPod controls from the headunit and steering wheel.

Installed and worked OK. Media button is the same as the Tape/MD. When I press the Tape/MD button the screen reads 'Tape Play". There you have it...
