HELP!!! MP3 rear lip

Ok, so I went to the body shop after getting my car returend without the lip. They told me two things.
1.)The lip has been discontinued so there is no way they can get the part.
2.)The insurance company told them this is an "after market" part thus the insurance will not pay for the part.

They tried to explain to me that I was suppose to tell my insurance agent that I have that piece on my car so I could get insured for it. What I don't understand is that the car came stock this way and I'm still required to tell them? The guys at the dealer said this is a "modification" done to the car so yes I am still required to tell the insurance company. When the car is insured under MAZDA PROTEGE MP3, don't they have the information of what the car came with? I mean this is Stock..

Did any of you tell your insurance company about every part that had been modified "in the factory"?

And also, how can I check if the part is discontinued or not? If so, does the lip of the Mazdaspeed fit Mp3's???

I would appriciate it if I can get some feedback from you guys.

What should I do??

i dont know about any of the insurance crap...other than the fact that it sounds absolutely rediculous...

but the 2003 msp has the EXACT same lip...the 2003.5 has the different one...both should fit perfectly...

you can buy the lip from mazda's website last i checked...or mazdastuff.com or mazdaformance.com

Thanks for the info Dreeza.

Well here's some update.
-----------
I called my insurance agent, and he told me that I need to prove that the part came with the car factory installed. So I called MazdaUSA and was told to go down to a dealership and they will provide me with part numbers and such and provide me with information I need to "prove" that the part is stock. Since the dealers are closed today I am planning to go down there tomorow and hopefully this will work out.

And you are 100% positive that 03 MSP's rear end lip is an exact match of the MP3's right? I really appriciate your help man.

Time to go get my ******* lip!

O, and I just noticed that I was missing my wind splitter also..damn it lol I'm going to try to get that too.

i don't think they can be discontinued...
i think car manufactureres have to produce each part for 10 years after the car has been made or have enough supply to last that duration.

so for example, 03 p5 fogs production can only be ceased in 2013 or if they stop it in lets say 2008, they have to have enough supply to last untill 2013

The 03 MSP is the exact same part.... keep with the original lip, stay away from the 03.5 (it looks great), but you have a limited production car with an I.D. number..... keep it's value by keeping it the way it was meant to be....Just my opinion....

Ok,,,, I think there's a confusion here.
------------------
I am talking about the lip of the REAR BUMPER, not the Front Lip. My story is that I got in a accident, the lip was damaged. After my car was fixed, I went to pick up my car and saw I only had a bumper at the rear of my car (just like a regular protege). I asked the body shop about the lip, and they told me that the part was discontinued and they couldn't get it.
-------------------
I need to ask you guys for some help.

I went down to a mazda dealer and was able to get the part number for the rear lip.
The part # is:
0008 - 8M - C16

Unfortunately, the asshole(guy was extremely rude) told me he didnt have a catalogue or some s*** to check if the part was available. Since my body shop told me that the part is discontinued, my plan was to:

1) Check availability of the part. If available, tell the body shop the part number.

2) If not available, I need the part number for the 2003 MAZDASPEED PRTG's rear bumper lip.

After being told by the parts department that they had no way to check if the part is available, I called mazda usa who told me they should be the one with the information to check upon the part's availability. I returned home because I was pissed enough after driving all over the place(the mazda dealer I purchased the car from was not a mazda dealer anymore, so i drove to a different location).

However, he did tell me that the part has to be checked at mazdafactory.com or something like that so I'm going to try it after I post this message.

Once again I am asking for:

1.) part#:0008 - 8M - C16 *If anyone could check if the part is available or how I can check if the part is available.

2.) Part number for the MazdaSPEED Protege's rear bumper lip.

Thx guys.

Give that info to the body shop and the appraiser from the insurance company. Part should be ordered ASAP. Make them order it. You should not be dealing with getting OEM parts. That is insurance & the shop's duty.

It's actually 7 years on everything except paint.....now they could discontinue the MP3 lip as it is the same as the MSP lip therefore reducing a part number on thier syste,

this car wont ever be a collectors item :(

this car wont ever be a collectors item

I look at mine as a collectors item. If there are only so many made then to me that says collectors item. I guess I just think alot of the MP3 since I am new to it. LOL Oh how sweet they are.

I hope you find all the info you are looking for!!!
doesn't wings west make a kit that looks like the MP3??? They may have that rear lip. That is crazy about the insurance company. I am going to double check with mine. They better never screw me over. I mean I am paying extra since it is a MP3!!!
