Questions about a 1990 929 S

The only thing I remember to look out for was the timing belt tensioners. They should be replaced with the timing belt if not it can make a mess if it breaks.

My ex-step-mom had one and it was beat to hell, but still rather reliable from what I remember. She had more issues with her '99 Millenia than she did with her old 929.

doesnt sound to bad, think i might have found a buyer for one of my FC's so hopefully ill be able to snag up the 929 for my DD

If the engine goes south you could chase up a JF-T. There was a local guy who had a JF-T engine swapped in his 929. I think he was putting out 260hp at the wheels at 16psi. Made for a crazy fast car.

ill have to look up that motor, never heard of it before.

def. some nice power though.

It is a 2.0 JF 18valve engine with a turbo stuck to the drivers side of the engine. The manifold runs a cross over pipe, see pictures below.

I do know he had the turbo rebuilt with a larger compressor wheel.

Hook up that turbo setup on a 3.0 block and a bigger turbo for soem real fun.

haha, oops!

You can build one crazy turbo 929 if someone had the motivation.

I think I would try and get a 5 speed in it though. I know some people have pulled that off too.

thats the killer for the car imo

still would be nice for a DD and with it having an auto might be enough to keep me from messing with it, but first i need to get one haha.

Thanks for the info though. That motor is def. an interesting route to go if the motor goes.

Everything was custom... I was lucky to get some Jamex lowering springs which I only used for the rear. Cut springs, CAI, cat-back, rolled fenders, camber bolts, many face lifts & I eventually ended up with some 17x8 & 17x9 +9mm Enkie Sporsh's, 205 & 215 Falkens. The car went coast to coast four times, it was solid. I put in 8 years & eventually had to take it out of commission but kept all the 5 speed goods...

I picked up this 90' 929S with the 3L twin cam so it has been my new ride since then...

Im running a CAI, dual exhaust with x pipe & high-flow cats, B&M tranny cooler & a VLSD from a S5 RX7. It sits up front with camber bolts, Jamex 1.75" drop springs & rear height is unfortunately stock. Tail lights are from the Korean model.
