is it ok to use the fpr with a flashed ecu and a an injen CAI? i only have 1200 miles on it and have already gotten the flash done. im asking because i just purchased the fpr kit and would like to get the injen cai. have we established that they just changed the ignition timing or did they change the fuel maps too? i still have some hesitation but most of that is probably from heat soak. so if there is anyone running the FPR w/ the re flash and a cai please lemme know if youve had any proplems or any input would be great.

I've got the flash and tried it both with and without the FPR. I can't really tell any difference to be honest, but I'm running stock boost.

i wouldnt do the FPR with the flash...

WHY? Joe himself said that some guys are doing it & showing benefits.

I ordered mine a few weeks ago so hopefully I'll get it & be able to see how it works with the flash.

well i already ordered mine also so we'll see. Injen CAI is next. wheres the best place/price to get it?

Lets see.. Joe designed a good product for a problem. The problem has now seen the CORRECT fix. The product plus the fix probably isnt the best idea. It might not be dangerous, but why risk it? Leaning out the car is important, but go too lean and you run the risk of popping the motor. Then what do you do??
Id say get the flash, dont put on the FPR, and if you want fuel control, get a rising rate Fuel Pressure Regulator, and SAFC-II, or standalone.

FPR = Fuel Pressure Reduction (kit)
The flash alters the timing to improve performance, not the air-fuel ratio. The car still runs very rich under boost. The flash leaned out the fuel curve very slightly, and mostly while the ECU is still in closed loop. I don't see how using both simultaneously could hurt anything since even with both mods the fuel ratio is still too rich.

Has anyone taken accurate A/F readings with each / both mods? I am curious to see the map. The thing is, if our cars are running close to 10:1, we are way off the ideal 12.5:1 ratio.

Actually the ideal stoichiometric ratio is 14.7:1

And I tell ya, I wish I could find out exactly what the flash does to our fuel and timing curves. I've heard everything from no change to the fuel map it's a timing change only, to a little timing change and a large leaning of the mixture, and all points in between.

I've asked one dealer's service dept, and they had no idea. Can't find anything definitive on the 'Net. If anyone KNOWS what the flash truly changes, please post a link, or at least an explanation of why you think the way you do.

Thanks Spooled...I think I'm gonna install it when I do my DIYs.

That's one of the main problems with this forum...so many people speculating & so little factual evidence to go by.
