I'm slowly but surely in the process of going turbo. I'm currently researching every little detail as well as building the funds as I'm going to take my time and do it right and have a built motor so I don't worry about going boom boom. The question is though, as far as the whole ecu goes, do I absolutley need a msp ecu? What my thoughts are and like I said I'm researching but I'm considering getting something like the haltech e6x. Couldn't I just run that and the stock mp3 ecu or am I missing something? If not share some insights with me with what your running and what kind of problems you've encountered.

NO, you dont... there are PLENTY of options... not to sound like an ass but have you searched on here yet...? there is ALOT in the MSP and P5 section... but no you dont have to use an msp ecu... if your not nessicarily on a budget... go stand alone... if you are... use your ecu with a ssafc ( fuel tuner..) if your going big boost like 15 and above.. you should be using a standalone to retard/ advance timing.

problems that i have had with msp ecu... running RICH.... Fuel cut... that kinda stuff... if you do a search... or evenlook in the msp forum, you will see it all over... witha FMIC and cold weather... i get fuel cut in the p5 with msp ecu... i am going to standalone... i have been through 4 different piggybacks just trying to get a nice tune... my car simply learns around them... or doesnt like them at all... the greddy was great.. but.... i dont have time to go to the dyno alot... so im going something different...

Hey thanks man. Yeah I have searched all over the msp threads. I overlooked the p5 guys because it wasn't anything different really then what I or any other na 3rd gen would have used. But it seemed like everyone is using the msp ecu and I didn't know if anyone stayed with the original ecu because to me it sounds like a waste of money unless its necessary.
