Question for those that have their MSP

I know Limited Edition and Digi have their cars, but for you guys and whoever else has their car, what are the terms of the warranty? Like adding aftermarket parts and what not.

Also, what modifications do you guys plan on doing?

Hey...
Exterior modifications should be fine. In terms of body kits, rims etc... 3" Exhuast all the way out, should be fine. I even talked to my salesman about adding an intake, and they said it's totally fine. Ignition system, such as wires, plugs are all fine.

Things not to do are cams, timing, port polish, larger bore, pistons, fuel upgrades (injectors), up the boost to max. I can't really think of anything else that would void the warrenty. This applies to all cars too. But it really comes down to failure. E.g If you up the boost to it's limit and the turbo blows on you, then they won't cover the turbo and give you a new one. It's simple.
Just think about, it's like having a CAI and the water gets into the manifold and you can't get your car to start, then they'll tell you because of your intake, they can't repair anything under warrenty.

I'm sure FMIC, BOVs are all fine. Just as long as the aftermarket parts don't mess up anything and in the end you, you complain to the dealer that your car has problems because of your mods. That's like suicide!

Mods? I'd really like to get an intake in there. I'm sure with an intake you can hear the turbo spool up much louder. But i'm not sure who makes an application to fit perfectly in there. I doubt there is even a company who makes one. The windshield washer fuild tank is in the way of the piping that goes down to the fender well... Short ram should do though.

Sorry for the bad english.

Hey man, thanks for all the info. Aren't Mazdaspeed going to make and release aftermarket parts just for the Mazdaspeed Protege?

mazdaspeed will be releasing parts but i am not getting my hopes too high as far as how big the list will be.

as for BOV, there is a discussion at mpsport.net about installing one and it SEEMS that there is no room to replace the OEM one so maybe a mazdaspeed one will be released which somehow fits, otherwise there is talk of having to weld? to get a aftermarket one in there

the engine is just a turbo charged mp3 engine, so it makes since to me that the AEM (www.aempower.com) short ram cold air intake that fits a mp3 should fit the same engine... but i just ordered an orange msp and the dealer said that he had driven one and that the pedals where not in fact sparco but some plactic looking mazdaspeed ones, is this true???

i know, i asked him if the pedals on the real car were to be the cheap ass ones or the sparco and he pointed to the cheap ones??? i dont think the guy is right, but he has seen them in person and i know how companies change things from concepts so i guess i will just have to wait and see :(

the 2003.5 is supposed ot have mazdaspeed stuff instead of sparco which still looked nice but may indeed be plastic, maybe he drove one of those? probably it wasnt a production car...

same engine, VERY different intake. The AEM for the mp3 will not fit without some fabrication.

The MSP is running the same FS-DE 2.0 liter that powers all of the present Proteges. The only real differences (besides the turbo) are engine management and larger injectors. Other than that, it is the stock FS block found in all other 2002+ Proteges...

The intake pick-up where you would be able to change the filter is located farther forward and down from the throttle body, which is where the AEM short ram air intake goes.

The AEM short ram will not fit on the MSP...You would have to do some cutting on the intake to get to fit right.
