OK so I know its not good to get on it in your car until it has fully warmed up but one day I had to to merge with traffic since there was so much..anyway when I did I was totally surpised by the performance...I mean almost broke the tires loose there was so much power and it doesnt bog shifting from 1'st to 2nd b4 it hits VVT like normal (2.3M I have taken my resonator off of my intake) I was wondering if anyone else has expirecned this..if so any ideas what it is because I would like for my car to have that much power all the time and do you think its heatsoak from the intake getting warm air after its warmed up?

I absolutely agree with you.
When my car has not reached full operating temperature, I have TONS more power.

I notice this everyday and I continually wonder if there is some way to make it perform like that all the time!!

It's like a totally different machine when it's cold, ( and by cold, I mean simply not warmed up on a hot summer day)

I get this enhanced performance for one about a minute or less, but it's drastically noticeable, on my car anyway!!

Anyone else notice this?
Anyone have a good explanation?
I don't believe it has anything to do with warm air from the engine compartment cause it's a drastic difference!!

the car in some loop mode until all the sensors/engine are warmed up then it goes into a different mode. I dont know it verbatum but i think it has a certain table the ecu reads before engine op temp. then it goes off the sensors. to my knowledge. correct me if im wrong.

The car is considered in open loop until the sensors are warmed causing it to go into closed loop. Pretty much your car is running rich until the temperature sensor and the O2 sensors get into normal operating temperature. Few other sensors also take time to kick in. Another thing that effects the performance is the engine bay gets so hot that the engine loses power due to high heat. A cooler running engine performs better. To bad hypertech doesnt make a cooler running thermostat. A manual fan switch also helps cool down your engine.

mazda only t-stat (notcool) no switchy switchy...and yes my car and even tranny works flawlesly when just starting off...torque out of this world and then I usualy hit a wall of traffic.

Temperature really affects performance. A lot of the ZX2 guys did the pots mod so they could fool the computer into thinking the engine is cold. You can't leave them on all the time (pots), but it's great when racing. I don't know if would work on the MZ3 though, since I never did the mod on my ZX2.They all said it was the cheapest hp gain, around $!0 to $20.

just don't beat it too hard cause I know with the 6 you will get a cel if you redline before norm operating temp is reached
