Question bout seat belt warning

I'm interested in the CX9 and I'm curious if it has a warning bell if someone is in the passenger seat. If it does, is there a way to disable it? I know a lot of the new cars have that and that would be quite annoying when I take my dog for a ride.

Yes, it has a warning belt if someone is in the passenger seat without their seatbelt if that's what you're asking. Don't know what the weight is that triggers the annoying little beeping sound though.

Do you know approximately the weight of your dog?

There are two weight thresholds here.
First one is for seatbelt chime to activate (this is what you asked, I believe).
Second one is for the airbag to activate (this is about 90-100lb).
I can look it up if this is covered in Workshop manual or not.

Would the salesperson mind if you take the dog for a test-drive?
I would think your dog's opinion counts also.....

I have 2 small dogs that weigh about 15 lbs each. When they are both in the passenger seat the front passenger air bag deactivation indicator light illuminates.

I once had them in the front seat of a rental car, and the chime kept sounding. I simply buckled the seat belt to stop it.

The front passenger front and side air bags and seat belt pretensioner systems will deactivate if the total seated weight on the front passenger seat is close to 30 kg (66 lb) and they will reactivate before the weight exceeds 42 kg (93 lb).

He weighs round 32 lbs. I imagine asking a salesman that question would get me an interesting look. LOL So from everyone's replies I guess there is no way to disable that annoying little chime.

For sure, 32 lbs will trigger seat belt chime and deactivate SRS airbag. It is as heavy as a typical infant seat.
As Force-1 suggested, how about just buckle up the belt, and let your dog sit on the belt?
Won't work for you?

Buckling the belt would do but I was hoping there was a way to shut up that annoying chime. He's not much on riding in the back with the other one. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

FWIW, the chime does not sound when my dogs are sitting on the front seat. All I get is the "Airbag Off" light.

if all else fails a simple solution is to buy an extra seat belt buckle from somewhere (junkyard?) that fits our car and just pop it in when your dog is with you. also, does the chime keep going forever, or does it stop after a minute or two?
