question about our stock battery

I think the Optima batteries are overblown in these forums.
Seriously, $100+ for a damn car battery?
I'm sure they are good batteries, but the $40 battery from Farm&Fleet will serve most people just fine, plenty of CCA at a more affordable price.

Well, it depends on the amount of electronics you have in your car and how/when you use it. It's because normal batteries are not made to handle deep discharges. So if you drain the battery too much on regular batteries (like when you crank up your jigawatt amps/subs while the engine is NOT running), you'll find out it'll die pretty soon. So in this case, an optima (with the deep discharge capability) is better.

However, if your car is running, you won't be discharging the battery that much because the alternator is supplying the juice, so a regular battery should be fine. But I've heard that people found out that getting an optima battery solves their light dimming problems when playing music loud.

So if you don't have a hardcore audio system, I would just get a regular battery. $100 can buy you 2 regular batteries! :D

My lights seem to dim sometimes even when my (stock) radio is not turned up. Maybe it has something to do with the ac compressor kicking in.

I've had mine for about 26 months and i have subs, HIDs, alarm system, amp, and i often play the radio with the car turned off, and my battery seems to be fine.

Yeah,I always have my CD player blasting w/ the car turned off, plus I usually roll up/down my windows in pairs at the same time and I have Cool Blue light bulbs and my stock battery seems fine for being 2.5 yrs old.
