question about dsc and launching?

If you guys are genuinely getting your TCS light to come on when your DSC is off, you should take your cars in to get them checked...They're broken.

Also, the ECU doesn't limit power in the first two gears by only tweaking boost (i.e, by setting a boost "limit"), and regardless, the 1st & 2nd gear power limiting isn't part of the DSC system anyway...

So true. The torque nanny is totally independent of DSC. Look at this accelerometer chart on one of my runs and notice how, even with DSC turned off, the car barely develops 150 whp in first gear and hold power below 200 for most of second gear. Disregard sharp spikes at the shift into 4th and 5th -- those are ignition artifact. Note that this is a mid-13 second run in a car with decent power up top.

A true accelerometer, IMHO, is much more accurate for 60 ft times and other measurements of speed and rpm v. time, etc. than the Dash Hawk, but will not provide the advanced engine monitoring of DH. No one monitoring tool does it well for everything.

my tsc light isn't coming on no more when i turn my dsc off....i know that the boost limiting has nothing to do with the dsc...it's apart of the ecu's torque steer management system....and actually boost is totally cut lower when the dsc is on in first and second

(huh)

Can you clarify that statement?

Possibly, but I've managed to get the TCS light to illuminate while the DSC is off, which leads me to believe that the DSC isn't completely disabled in this mode.

Correct. The threshold is changed but it is never completely off.

I've seen boost numbers as well on my Dashhawk at 14+ psi i 1st and 2nd gear with both systems off (DSC & TCS light on) which shouldn't happen if the ECU has limited the boost levels in these gears.

The ECU can limit the boost pressure to ~10 PSI when the engine is stock.
Intake and (especially) exhaust modifications will effectively raise the minimum boost.

There's some good solid reasoning.....wanna explain or just stick with "wrong"?

Well. If there's a still threshold when it's off, I've certainly never seen it...

I have on the other hand seen firsthand more than one instance of near complete front-tire-liquidation with the DSC off. Hitting top wheel-speed in 3rd gear while standing nearly still is possible with the DSC disabled, so the "threshold" must be raised to the point of it not really mattering. (dunno)

I was strictly talking about DSC (yaw control), and not TCS.

Easy now, fellows.

If one-time sworn mortal enemies Frasier and Chewie can make amends, surely you can, too.
