After the unit is installed, can I just put the icon on my home screen and then start the car, or do I actually have to log on with my password or account each time?
Nope! You remain logged into the app. You can add extra Face ID / Touch ID security for when you open up the app, but it’s not required. I did a self install of the Compustar FT-DC3 and the drone mobile X1 and it was pretty straight forward.
According to the website of my remote starter, it is compatible with drone mobile. So drone mobile a separate install, right? I've installed a Sony double din unit with backup cam, I'm guessing I can install this - assuming it's just an add-on and didn't have to be installed at the time of my remote starter install? I'm guessing there's not much battery drain?
I got this, it seems to be compatible but I have to access/find where they out they put the control module?
So I found this thing tucked down by the footwell. Is the DM just plug and play in to this or is there more to the installation if this remote start is already installed?
Yeah, so that’s the actual compustar starter module. The drone mobile will plug into that where it says Drone — it’s a data bus connection. The only thing is that the module might have to be reflashed depending on if it was configured to accept a drone module on that bus or not (at least I think, I remember that being a setting when I flashed my module).
And that's it? Then just route the receiver module on my dash/windshield? If it needs reflashing is it possible I can brick it? I have no accessories so with what connection do I re-flash it?
I actually have my drone module tucked right next to the starter -- I didn't see any reason to mount it on my windshield, etc.
For flashing, you need something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned). You'd need to signup for an account here https://compustar.idatalink.com, and then use a computer with IE (cause it's an activeX flashing program). I think they also make an iOS / Android cable if that's easier for you. I think it's pretty hard to brick it if you follow the instructions, but there's always a chance. You could always ask your installer to fix it for you.
