Question about a battery tie-down...

I just recently picked up an Optima Red Top battery, and well it didnt fit quite as well as I thought it would. I currently am using the old battery case and just forced it over top of the new battery but the tie-down bracket doesnt really hold it very well. I've seen a few pictures of people running either custom mad brackets for the optima batteries or custom bought ones. Just wondering if anyone has any info on where I can purchase one or should I just make my own?

If you got the correct Optima for our car, then you wouldn't need a custom battery tie-down. The correct battery for our car comes with a plastic spacer that the battery sits on and raises the battery to the correct height.

I think it is the group 35 battery.

Dont know, I picked mine up from Advanced auto.. Just came with the battery. No spacers!

Mine fits fine with the spacer, I bought it a little while ago and can't really remember the number, I think it was group 35/75 as I remember.

If you got the correct battery, go back to Advanced and say you never got the spacer so it doesn't fit correctly. If it isn't the correct battery you may just be able to go back and exchange it for the correct one. If they give you a problem take them outside to see how it fits in your car and that it is not held properly.

I got mine from Costco for $105 so I can't really complain. If you just wanted it for the looks, then the Duralast would work just fine as well and will probably last longer. I've had my Oprima disconnected since October and am hoping that when I connect it again in May that it will still have juice.

The correct one will fit without issue.

Yeah its the correct battery for the car, just no spacer. I called them up and said they dont supply a spacer with the battery because they don't come with them... so they say

I got one of there universal spacers and slapped it on today... works and looks good so im happy. It cost me like 2 bucks for it.

Gald it worked out for you, I wouldn't have put up much of a fight either if it only costs $2.00.
