compressor surge is bad for the turbo and just wears out the bearings. IDK what the hell your tech guy was talking about with the sound from the wastegate. But as ppl have said it is just air going back into the turbo and creates that flutter noise. To get rid of it you just simply need to change the bpv and get something better. That plastic one is crap and does nothing beneficial. But it sounds normal and don't go back to that dealership again.

my sound is a low flutter and the head of mazda service told me that the turbo fan cant spin the opposite way just from the air flow

on the account of the stock bpv i was thinkin a forge bpv that looks like the oem one does anyone know of forge bein any good?? its $107 so its not like its cheap

correct it is impossible for the fan to turn the wrong way. Just think of it like this, put your face in front of a fan and talk or blow into it. Hear the chopping sound? That is what compressor surge is kinda of like. The air is coming back through the turbo outlet and causeing it to have to work a little harder.

lol ok then check this out.... i installed my aem cai and i notice this sucking sound at around 2 grand its like rubbing on a balloon but a deeper pitch and it will go away if i let of the gas and re accelerate what could this be?

Hope u put foam or something around the hole where the intake goes down into the fender. That rattle causes some noise too.

I put my Injen on yesteday and it works pretty good. Didn't notice any gain really from the stock box and the K&N. Definately a noise maker though.

i asked that question before if i am thinkin about the same thing but everyone told me that the sucking sound is normal- it took me a few days to get used to it -hahaha

ok TURBO SUCKS AIR. The only reason you are now hearing it is because the stock air box is plastic, not alumium. Plastic as we all know has a tendency to absorb sound. As well as the air box itself is inclosed. Now you take the injen/aem intake you are putting a filter into an inclosed space where sound tends to echo, as well as you have an alumium pipe that does not absorb sound. What do you get? A glorified noise maker that makes the car sound like a deisel engine. Awesome isnt it?
