I am looking to purchase a 2014 CX5 Touring AWD soon (in either black or meteor grey mica) for my fiancee. Without the addition of any options, what price range would be considered a "good deal" (before tax, tag, and title)? I already completed the Mazda Credit application online and have been approved, and will probably put down around $4k in cash. I understand the dealer must make a profit, but with so many hidden fees and tricks and gimmicks sometimes it's hard to know how low they can go. Any thoughts on a good price?

I think it quite depends on the area you live in. The CX-5 has been getting some good press lately, and is a popular model. I have noticed in some areas, like mine, the Washington DC area, the price out the door is less than MSRP by a few hundred dollars. If you believe Edmunds and their True Market Value analysis, which is at least a place to start, you get the MSRP, the "invoice" and their belief of what the TMV is your area. The MSRP and invoice spread was only about 3%, but the spread on the Tech Package was more like 12%. Costco actually gave us a pretty good no haggling deal, just about $100-200 above a combined invoice + destination + dealer processing.
So bottom line, at least use something like Edmunds to get an idea of pricing, and use that TMV price as a place to begin from and work downwards.
PS, if you can, see if you are interested in something other than black. It is a great color when clean. Here in the east coast, that is hard to do. You notice every speck of dust, pollen, sap, etc. in addition to stone chips, swirl marks and other imperfections. Take it from one who owns a black car and made sure our CX-5 was not.

Depends where you are. In my area there are 4 Mazda dealers within a 25 mile radius, so it was easy getting a deal becuase of their competition with each other. Some other ways to get a deal are through AAA motor club and BJs discount stores if they're in your area. Dealers acting through these agencies had good price offerings. In my opinion, Mazda hit a homerun with this vehicle. Very glad I bought one.

I find that hard to believe. Do you mean $1400 under MSRP maybe? Or you had a couple of incentives included?

I just bought my CX-5 last night. I paid $475 under invoice but I also have family that works for the dealership. Yay me!
Larone, if you check the sticky thread for this forum on latest ("Current selling price for a CX-5") and start reading from the back you'll find a lengthy post from me about my purchase of a 2014 Touring AWD a week ago. I hope it helps. But, it was Colorado and the only Sky Blue around.
One thing we wonder about here in Colorado is whether or not AWD vehicles that are beloved in Colorado are cheaper elsewhere. I've known a few people who will travel to the east coast to buy Subarus because people appreciate them less elsewhere.
So, perhaps, you may find AWD versions cheaper back east and FWD versions pricing more consistent. Just a theory.

Hey, I'm located in Tampa, FL. It took a lot of effort and pitting a few dealers against each other. I think I could have even gone lower. They tried to screw me on the financing end though. After going through the motions on cost when I finally made it to the finance department, they asked me what term I was thinking. I told them the advertised options on mazdausa.com were either 0.9% for 36 months, 1.9% for 60 months, or 2.9% for 72 months. They told me they couldn't give those to me because of the discount I was already getting on the car. I told them goodnight and began to leave and then they changed their minds.
