PS3 date announced at E3

beta is a great format. they probably didn't market it to consumers well enough as i don't remember that far back, but we still use the beta format for standard definition tv.

I think it's funny that everyone thinks $499-$599 is way to high for a console. It's up there but when people will spend $200+ on a cold air intake for there car, or thousands on car stereo equipment to make there car vibrate apart, or big ugly rims.

So then you recommend putting this thread in the humor section?

I'd only buy one to sell one at that price.

I already have that, and have had that for years on my computer.

Damn the new generation of consoles (other than the Wii) is useless.
You do? What PC games are the old school versions that have online score tracking and ranking, all with 1 sign-on? All of them that I have seen simply track YOUR high score but not the high scores of everyone else in the country.

Sony loves and I mean LOVES proprietary media formats, and guess what, they always fail to market them anywhere in the world. There's not going to be a half on or half off, there's going to be one format chosen by consumers and no way in hell it's going to be a Sony backed format.
I'll take that bet and say you're wrong -- Blu-Ray has more of the movie companies behind it and some that WERE exclusive to HD-DVD have switched and said they'll produce both formats now. It probably won't matter much anyway once holographic discs are available and superscede both of these "intermediate" formats.

You mean like Steam?

I am just not impressed by XBOX live, cause it's paying for what I expect to get for free. We will see about the 360 generation of Live, though.

Anything Sony backed fails because they HAVE to have their hands in everything and make shoddy products at the consumer level.

funny, i think I have had most of these....but

Neo Geo....failed
Jaguar.....failed
3do....failed
dreamcast....failed

oh, and Blazing Lazers is still one of the best shooters EVAR!

Hey now, the DC failed because of timing and huge amounts of game piracy at the time. It was and still is a great system. Mine's hooked up to my 2nd monitor right now for playing REZ once a month.

I still remember using my memory card screen to call plays on NFL2k to keep my friend from watching what I would call each play.

funny the dreamcast was brought up i was just thinking about 9.9.99 the other day.....sigh that was the only launch date i ever counted down to

Soul Calibur and Resident Evil on that system were awesome. And then Sonic in 3D.

that was the only 3d sonic i ever wanted to play...

and god i remember putting hours on end into soul caliber basicaly mastering the game...only for year later to buy it on xbox and own everyone you dared to touch the controller.....long live IVY

anyone here play Marvel vs Capcom 1 or 2 on there
or the most innovative and fun fightnig game ever....powerstone 1 and 2

its funny tho after beating a few friends in marvel nemesis, none of the them ever heard of the game(powerstone) and thought nemesis was the first of its type....

power stone is such a better game than nemesis. i heard the next installment in the power stone series is going on the Sony PSP
