beta is a great format. they probably didn't market it to consumers well enough as i don't remember that far back, but we still use the beta format for standard definition tv.

You do? What PC games are the old school versions that have online score tracking and ranking, all with 1 sign-on? I'll take that bet and say you're wrong -- Blu-Ray has more of the movie companies behind it and some that WERE exclusive to HD-DVD have switched and said they'll produce both formats now.
