Protege5.com vs. Protegeclub.com

Stupid question....but I don't get what the beef is. I frequent both clubs the same and haven't noticed such hostilities until now. I didn't know that there were so many dedicated Protegeclub members and just stuck with that forum. I'd figured we just floated between the two forums.

I dunno. Protegeclub was a much more general "all Protege" board. We have to remember that this board started as Mazdamp3.com/protegemp3.com as a MP3 only site. Realizing that having only 2500 cars between USA/Canada would really lower the amount of activity here, it was decided to put some forums in for P5s and other 3rd gens, and this became pretty much a 3rdgen place.

If we really want to host the other club, some restructuring will need to be done, and its apparent that it WILL be done soon. Patience will be the key here ;).

Chris

Well there's really only a small group of followers that promote the hostility and others follow along. I've always seen this when there are two forums based on the same 'concept' with cross-over members.

Both have their distinct advantages, Protegeclub.com's connectivity was far superior to this site until the upgrade to 2.3 and now it's on the other shoe.

I will say though that the forums here are much more organized than over there with forums for specific models, not just generations.

LOL...I only promoted a friendly rivalry between the two clubs in the fantasy football league. That's all. :p

I never registered here because until recently, this board pretty much excluded anything but P5's and MP3/MSP's. Although PClub probably had a lot more P5 owners than sedan owners, there were still many more sedan owners than there are here.

I also prefered the way it was organized there. Just seems weird that there's both a P5 and a 3rd gen forum. They're both technically 3rd gen, why not unite them??? I guss it's just another case of sedan discrimination on these boards. ;)

You have no idea how many times i have said the same thing in the last 3 days :D

I wanted the 3rd gen and P5 areas merged, aswell as the MP3 and MSP sections merged under a special edition heading.

Compromises run life though.

Also everyone has always been welcome but because so few 1st and 2nd gens ever participated, they was never a push for a seperate section. Although that is partly to do with the lack of the forum to begin with. Thus we have a chicken or the egg situation.

There really is no compromise...
it could run like this

3rd Gen
-- Sedan and MP3
-- Protege 5
-- Msp

Then it is just up to you guys to edit and move all of the posts ...

I would rather see the MP3/sedan and P5 all together then seperate a P5 for a lack of a trunk. Everything is identical on it.

The MP3 for its harder to deal with timing, different exhuast, lack of VTCS, stereo and upgraded suspension and wheels makes it far different then the P5. Its closest to the MSP.

Yeah, i really don't see why so many people think that their mazdaspeed protege is a completely different car. IT is still a 3rd generation protege. So is the PRotege5 and MP3...they are all the same exact car. Use the same chassis, transmission, engine, interior panels (p5 of course has slight differences) and basically all the aftermarket parts are the same.

IMO there should be a MP3/Sedan/P5 forum, and a Mazdaspeed forum. Seeing how the mazdaspeed is turbo'ed and all, but whateva.....this forum seems more specialized to 3rd gen proteges, and it seems to work well. WE never really had the issue come up at ProtegeClub, only like 1 or 2 people suggested we split the P5 from the 3rd gen forum.

Damn that's long... the bottom part anyway ..

I don't know if you want to keep the mp3 and msp together.. that is serious clutter... the msp has a ton of posts all by itself and to keep it with mp3 could cause problems ..
mp3 and sedan together would work out pretty well...
or just stuff the p5 in with the mp3 and sedan .. and then just let the msp live on it's own ..

*3rd gen
--p5/mp3/sedan
between these 3 models there should be enough conversation to keep it flowing easily ...
--msp
on it's own ... produces a slew of traffic ... I have noticed this. but whoever is the moderator of this section needs to get on the ball..as there are posts in there that don't belong...
*2nd gen and 1st gen

and the rest as you said ...

*Tuning and tech
-- forced induc and NOS
-- NA
(or you could keep all 3 together)
*Audio and Electrics(ICE)
-- Alarms
-- Audio and wiring
(and so forth ,,, along that line)
*Photo Gallery
*Off Topic
-- Flame Wars (no need to get credit for this)
-- Raffle
*for Sale
-- Vendor
-- Vendor review
-- parts for sale
-- protege's for sale
-- group buys
*Other Imports
*Staff /Private Forums

This is only suggestions though , just using the list that you gave me and broke it down a bit .. Using subforums would really help and even in the MSP section you could give them a susp and a eng section to help seperate that a bit/same for p5mp3sedan...

but it is a thought... just to take into consideration... if some part of it makes your life easier then that is cool by me ..

I am torn on that one, first the car in everything but turbo is the MP3's identical but I really don't want to subject the MP3 owners to that madness :D. Although if the sections were joined there would be an excuse to again beg to be a mod in there and to CLEAN HOUSE!!!

Being the audio mod, its easiest for me to keep that area all together. I have yet to desire to see it split in any way. We don't have a ton of posts there either as most audio threads are placed in the wrong friggen sections. As if a P5 alarm will be different then any other 3rd gen, ect. Only Sir Nuke really keeps up on that, when he stops by.

THANK YOU!!!!!
You have no idea how long I have been drooling to tear into that section!

I left out subsections and just listed everything out, I think the basic structure up now is established to handle the ideas i had.

yeah , otherwise I think everything else would be cool or is cool... seems that you and I agree that the car sections need the most work and need to be organized. funny thing if you go in the msp section .. you don't see one ---> moved post .. if you know that symbol I refer to ... and that's odd...

I think everyon one agrees the MSP section needs a total overhaul! Everything else is alright for the most part.I would still like to see perfomance become NA tuning and the brakes part is lumped into tires, wheels suspension and brakes section.

Seems odd to have a Turbo and NOS area but no NA tuneing.

they might as well put Turbo and NOS together and call it Forced Induction... being as that is what they both are. and if you look at the post and views .. they might as well be merged...

and msp damn near could be a forum in it's own ...lol
