Protege03ak46's Build Thread

It ripped part of the diffuser off, put some gnarly scratches in the bumper and bent the bumper support. It really wasnt that bad cHar I had my foot on the clutch.

So, cars back. Brand new bumper that doesn't sag ftw! Left school today and my car just wasn't running well. Step on the gas and it starts to go up, lag and then spike. First though was TPS. Looked it up on all data, should ohm out between 4000-7000 kOhms. Started to ohm it out and right in the middle it shoots down to idle speed reading. Shorted one of the risistors inside causeing my AFR to lean out and lag.... New TPS, problem solved and I.now have a smoother power band :D

Car pretty much sits in my car port all the time, nothings changed :(. Keep an eye out for som 16x9 or 10 Work Equips :D

Ok, question.

How did you get so much camber out of the front and rear? Did you modify the coilovers?
Im not getting s*** with my fortune autos, at all. Before modification I have +.5 in front, and -.5 in the rear, with the slots and camber plate up front maxed out.
I slotted the s*** out of them and Im only at -1.3 in the rear.

Also, how are those spring rates? I tried ordering 10k springs for the rear, and no dice. Apparently they dont make 10k springs for the protege

then just buy hyper coil spring they are really good u can pic the size of the spring and any spring rate u want

really odd man. i have more camber than i know what to do with. wonder what the deal is on yours.
no being a smart ass but, after you did the slotting, did you make sure to pull up on the bottom part of the rotor? (hope that makes sense) this ensures that you are getting all the camber the new slotting will offer. otherwise if you just tightened up the 2 17mm bolts without pulling, it will remain at almost stock camber readings. i went through that too.
i tightened the bottom one first then the top one and seemed to work.

I did have a problem with the rear but the front was no problem. With the rear It was a combination of the 235s and links. I had to pull in the links to tuck the tires. All the way in on the links and I had positive camber. I pushed mine out to almost all the way out and switched to 205s About the springs, no clue. I didn't deal with that. I had no problem getting a 6k and 8k springs through my dealer. I would say just get the same height springs in 10k from hypercoil. The Sprint springs are overrated. Springs are springs.

Lol, yea, I did it like 3-4 times to make sure I was pushing the top bolt all the way in. My old coils seem like the slots are smaller, and I had -2.5 in the rear no problem.
I actually found a set of sprint springs for pretty cheap, so ill just get those. I could care less about brand, as long as the spring rate is higher, Im good.

Dude the Hypercoil springs are better then the. Ones that come with my coilovers and they are cheap and have free shipping they are 63 dollars a spring

Oops, mixed the names up, I ment Swift springs. $189 for 2 11k springs, 2.5 dia, 7" length. I have to make sure that the inside dia is right though.
Ill prob go out and measure in a second, btw sorry to hi-jack your thread AK
