Protege Rally Car

can i join the team? i want to rally but dunno where to start... i figured some time with an established would help... do i need to know anything b4 hand??

How fast do you wanna go? A typical rally weekend in a national can cost as little as $2000 in a Production class grassroots effort and can cost as much as $90,000 for a factory Open class team. Yes, that's one weekend.

The smaller divisional series, ClubRally, is more economical and is a day of racing for a 300-600 entry fee. With a low HP Production class car you can get out for 1000 if you sleep the guys on the floor of your hotel room, only buy 2 new tires for the whole rally and use your used ones on the back, etc.

I follow WRC very closely, and starting to get more into the SCCA ProRally. What class(es) do you guys run in?

Do you guys go through engines like the World Challenge guys?

We have been running in Group 2 class. It is an open class so suspension, brakes, and shell can be modified however we want. The class is limited to 2wd and 2 liter n/a engines.

We are running 2 World Challenge engines built by Sunbelt, just like the road racers, but not spinning them quite as fast and tuned with different cams for a little more torque. I shift the car at around 8000-8200 and the engine is holding up well. We will swap it in a few weeks and tear down the one we have been racing with, but it is still a strong car. Right now it is one of the fastest G2 cars in the country.

Yeah. good one. I am very happy with the development program on it since Washington, though. We killed Chris on stage times...better than 2 secs a mile... at LSPR. My fault for the screwups.

Once again, Morgan, stunning photos.
