Protege Down!

2010 MS3
The MP3 is in pain!

Going to the dentist this morning an idiot ran me off the road and into the ditch/median. The guy kept driving so I jumped out of the car and chanced him down to the next stop light while I was on the phone with 911.

Police arrive; got 4 witnesses; guy who ran me off in his Tundra denied everything. Guy got a ticket. All looks to be in my favor. My boss pulled me out of the ditch with his truck.
Got the car home ok.

But after looking over the scene earlier; where I ran off the road in the ditch there is a large metal drain cover followed by a sharp drop off. Looking at the tire tracks I think I hit it :(. Hard to tell at this point if I did any major under body damage, I haven't had the time to get under there and really look.

The front bumper is a done for. Its cracked at the bottom and has wildflowers sticking out of it. The air splitter is also toast. It ripped out the plastic fender well liner on the driver side. There is a piece missing on the passenger side between the bottom side of the belts and tires. Few scratches on the side skirts. And it looks like I may have bent the cross member too. The car does drive a bit funny, but I hope it was just knocked out of alignment.

Fun times!

PS: I hit a watermelon too! :)

jesus....luke running s*** over, scott tossing a rod bearing, my trans went boom, and you got run off the road

I know! Not to Jinx us or anything... but I blame the protege curse!

Hell, my g/f just wrecked her car a month ago. Got a new Mazda 3 though :).
Guy I work with was also in a bad wreck too last week.

Its getting out of hand

Well luckily only my wheel bearing went bad lately and it's back out of alignment (only cause I think they knocked it out of alignment when they replaced the bearing).

I thought the protege curse only applied to Spicy's? Also, things like throwing rods and trannies and what-not, it's all because you boost em up and have a ton of aftermarket parts. I'm not saying it sucks any less than if you didn't but...

I guess it is a little wierd that all the MSP's and MP3's are having issues. I guess you could also include Todd's Miata in the mix too.

Sucks bro, keeps us posted with the results of what you find.

Michael's protege had hardly any mods on the engine/tranny when his diff went out, but he did auto-x it.

He only autocrossed it a couple times. If that's all it took to blow it, he'd have done it on his way home from work a week later anyway.

Probably not. I bought a 103k mile Miata and it had a leaky nipple and the previous owner did a lot of retarded things to it. Nothing on the car has really broken.

Don't you jinx me, savage!

That sucks dude. I'm trying not to laugh bro, but you ran over... an effin watermelon. (rofl2)

Yeah, the differential would have failed eventually anyways, autocrossing it had little to do with it's demise.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Even though the statement was miswrote, it made complete sense... am I alone in thinking this?

I'm off to bed anyhow.

Sorry though about the MP3 dude. Like the tag. It's nice. And again, let us know.

Like I said, I strongly doubt that autocross had any part in the speed of it's demise. I drove the car for about two more weeks afterwards. The differentials have a reputation for shearing, just as the MSP diff has a reputation for the case breaking. A poor design is a poor design.

While driving the Suburban yesterday, I was forced off the road by a Ranger full Mexicans that pulled out in front of me. I had to hop the curb and throttle around 'em to avoid hitting them or the tree in front of me as there was no way I could scrub the speed in time to avoid it (no contact - all is well). 2 hours later while on the way to the parts store, I watched a Minivan plow into the back of a newer Civic at about 40 MPH. I stopped and called the cops. Pure craziness. Sorry to see this, Adam.

When did you pop your tranny, Korey?
